Good.  Now focus on getting a turntable  .

This player will blow your mind.  It is very close to sounding like phono without wow and flutter. :D

I've heard this so many times and it's never true.  Closest I've heard a CD player sound like vinyl is a Linn CD 12, but even this player is smoked by a good $5K vinyl rig IMO.

I think you meant slaughter!   :uzi:    :bawl:

I have never heard a good analog setup be bettered by a digital setup.

There is nothing here that makes me think the results will be any different.

I have heard Joseph Audio Phono and tube setup and would admit it sounded pretty awesome.  I have also heard some pretty awesome SACD setup in 2ch and in 5.1ch.  I heard 3 dimensionality more so with an excellent SACD transfer like Pink Floyd which I did not hear in an analog setup.   It looks like SACD format has so much information in it.  :?

How much is this setup?

Yeah, a nice big platter acrylic table with a warm ass cardas heart cartridge is not my idea of a good table for rock- better for classical, vocal, and chamber.  Try a Linn, Rega, Simon Yorke, Roksan, or SME if you want to hear rock done properly on vinyl.  A suspensionless, thin platter TT is much better at capturing the proper timing and rhythmic elements so utterly essetnial to a good rock recording.

The SACD vs the 180 Gram Doug Sax Vinyl of the Pink Floyd is not even close.  I heard it on a Micro Seiki RX1500 vs. a Sony 777ES SACD player and it was, as Zybar stated, a slaughter.  Tweaks are never gonna get your digital to sound like vinyl.    Mikey Fremer has also voiced the superiority of the vinyl over the SACD numerous times over the net, if you want someone with "credentials" to weigh in on this.

Let's not go into SACD vs. Vinyl vs. CD thing.

I really liked Pink Floyd in multi-ch SACD in concert level spl.  I am curious, did you hear it in 5.1ch or 2ch?  Whichever ch-mode you heard it from I am sure it is pretty awesome experience.  :D

Let my two year old spend some time with the LP before we play it...I'm sure the digital setup will be competitive... :bounce:

Now that all the dust has settled, could you list all the mods you received and the total cost?  Thanks.

Levi,

What are other updates?

If you don't want to post here, please PM me.

I am trying to figure out total cost and upgrades to the unit.

This is necessary for me as I figure out what to do on my digital front end.

Thanks,

George

Thanks Dan.

I am going to hopefully hear Levi's unit in the very near future.

I am also in the process of listening to a couple of dacs:

Audiologic 24MXL tube dac
Empirical Audio modified Electrocompaniet ECD-1

These are on my short list for right now.
