Try it both ways (ribbons in/ribbons out) and see which way you prefer.

+1

I prefer them on the inside.

"...swap the speakers putting the main panels in the same spot...."

If I understand you this will move the speakers farther apart relative to their inside measurement when the tweeters where 'in"?

BTW: listening to "Truth" by Amaan and Ayaan Ali khan--stunning and simply beautiful on the 3.7s

Yes, the physical placement will be further apart, but acoustically the main panels are in the same place.

For the 1.6 and 3.6 it was tweeters out
for the 1.6 and 3.7 it was tweeters in for me.

Results can depend on the room too. If you have highly reflective side walls with little or no treatment then moving the tweeters out will push the upper frequency range side wall reflections further forward. Depending on distances this can cause some out of phase cancellations. But if you have a lot of distance to the side walls and they are well treated then you may really like the tweeters to the outside.

I also prefer the tweeters on the inside, but here I think the listening position
is to far away in relation to how far apart the speakers are.
I would move them more apart and away from the wall.

Berni,
He might have a camera like mine (Nikon D50) which makes everything look like it' 20 yards away from the listener.

Maybe  :icon_lol:
But if you look at the distance from the speakers till the rug, then the rug and then his feet :green: , it must be almost the double lenght what the speakers are apart.

I'd spread them out a bit, too.
Placement takes a while which is part of the fun of getting the new speakers.
The people who live with you think you've come unhinged and they're probably right.

They think that you're crazy for moving the speakers a little bit, seeing how it sounds, getting back up and moving them some more, etc.

Today's set up. Speakers spead out, tweeter in, subs connected and crossed over at 39hz. Distance between my seat and speakers a little beyond 2x distance between speakers from the inside measurement.

My eyes are still good.
In my eyes you are in a farfield, which is not the best.
Try to sit 5 feet closer or move them closer ar least 3 feet.
I would be surprised if it isnt better.

Hmmm, I find that a listening distance of 12 - 13 ft works best with my 3.7´s, not nearfield listening  :nono:
Jaylevine, how far from the speakers do you sit?

Inside speaker to speaker distance is 5'10". Listening situation is 13'.

Should have pointed out that I have a Rel Starta III sub slightly behind each 3.7 in the corner about 3 feet away (i.e., the 3.7s are 4'10" off the back wall). The room is narrow, so the outside edge of the 3.7 is only 1'6" off the side walls.

Do you find that the subs add much to your system?
