Just checked in on the British Geep and that slow guy, Vettel, is leading all those faster drivers. Lap 8.

Paul Di Resta gave a nice weariness in Hamilton.
This race proves Pirelli and FIA sucks, journalists informed the tires explode due overheat.

Quite a row over the tire situation now. Pirelli is certainly standing up for themselves at any opportunity. Left side tires being mounted on the right/ vice versa. No Kevlar belts as they requested...We have yet to see a real race this year as no team can fully come to grips with the tires changes for the the race and qualifying.  My man Hamilton has has failure after failure this year when he puts the car out front on the pole. Tough sledding this year.

It was the driver's fault.

It's up to the driver to manage the car and the tires.

Lap after lap, drivers continued to drive over the curbing (the red/white bumpers) on the edge of the track.  Many of the drivers had the inside tires of the car to the inside of the curbing and were driving over the curbing and essentially back onto the track.

How many tires exploded?  I watched the race on yesterday and I only recall 4 or 5 left rear tire failures.  Many cars had no tire issues what so ever.  Every team had at least 2 stops, most teams had 3.  So, at a minimum, there were 66 (orig 22 left rears, plus 2 additional left rears) left rear tires used in the race.  5 failures seems higher than normal, but I still think it was the driver's fault.

A real snoozefest - literally slept through most the race.  When prematurely exploding tires is the highlight & game-changer.....or maybe it's just that Silverstone doesn't lend it itself to more exciting action? Hopefully the German GP will bring more excitement.

Hope to catch Webber in his new gig.  Will be interesting to see if he can beat mid-pack in his new career.

At the request of Pirelli FIA prohibits teams to reverse tires in this Germany GP.
It was used for several teams since the beginning of the year to gain performance.
Pirelli admits that no prohibiting it was a mistake;
Pirelli fully guilty Teams to the explosive tires festival in this news:
(Please translate in the google)
http://globoesporte.globo.com/motor/formula-1/noticia/2013/07/pirelli-aponta-causas-de-festival-de-pneus-furados-e-anuncia-mudancas.html
Some Pirelli points to guilty Teams:
Rear tires reversed: Pirelli identified that tires failures were experienced with the rear tires reversed only, that is--> the right tire was placed on the left side and vice versa. The teams had discovered earlier in the season that revfersing rear tires made an improvement in performance on some GPs. Pirelli emphasized that the tires asymmetric structure this year were not designed to be reversed, because the side walls were built to handle specific loads internally and externally.

Low pressure: Pirelli noted the use of excessively low pressures, lower than indicated, and noted that the measure exposes the compound most stressful conditions.

High camber: was also listed the use of extreme camber angles.

Aggressive Zebras: Pirelli according to the above, combined with the zebras "particularly aggressive" as the curve 4 of Silverstone (scenario of most problems), resulted in problems. Because of this combination that all cases have affected rear tires left.

To me this means that we will continue to see tires and pit stops deciding races...

Massa said by the radio to the team(who already knew that by telemetry) that your engine turned off and the gear box locked.
After the race Massa informed press rear tires suddenly locked, then gearbox got stuck in 5º gear and engine turned off.
Ferrari again acted against their second pilot to favor Alonso.

Worth mentioning that Massa was faster than Alonso in all this GP practices, something that this team can not tolerate.

After the last lap Alonso car was out of gas and parked at the grass, one more FIA rules braking.
Obviously Ferrari will pressure FIA and Alonso will not punished.

You're not seriously suggesting that Ferrari remote-control locked Massa's gearbox, then shut off his engine....... :o

Sounds to me like Massa's gearbox seized up.  If the rears lock, it would kill the engine, so I didn't consider Ferrari team intervention.

If Massa thinks that the team intervened, well, then he needs to walk away from Ferrari and find someone else to drive for.  In auto racing, it's very important that the driver trusts the team.

Seriously no, as I had no hard evidences to show, but afew time ago Ferrari came overnight in the F1 garage and broke the Massa gearbox seal just to benefit Alonso in 1 grid position.

When Massa is ahead of Alonso always a strange incident happen and xxx(insert here your favorite second pilot-Massa, Barichello, Rakkinen, Jack Ickxs, Carlos Reuteman etc) is out.
Iam seeing these Ferrari second pilot incidents since the 1970s years.

Spa - one of my favorite tracks!  :thumb:

Eau Rouge is just about the definitive complex of F1 IMHO

Hope it's a great week with good drama!

Unfortunately Eau Rouge is now just another corner taken flat out due to the advanced aero capabilities of modern F1 cars.  It only remains a very bad place to crash if something goes wrong.

I would really like to see F1 run at Road America.
