How about the VTL Siegfried?
That whole PC Tower school of design is as sexy as a microwave.

SteveFord, granted the VTL siegfied form factor is equivalent to 1990's PC computers this VTL looks better than many PCs from that era. it is plain, but has a balanced aesthetic for that form factor and manufacturing approach. not a beauty, but I think it's hardly ugly.

How about a glorified PC chassis with a couple of holes in the top?  :duh:

Nice one jhm731, I guess I am the only person on here that gets it.
I got it instantly too, 'cos I was thinking of it as soon as the thread started but bit my keyboard instead.

As all Nagra equips are ugly and retro look, as a favor to AC friends Iam will accept donations of this unfashionable brand.

I like the 'Nagra throwback look', but not when based on a PC box!

These have always screamed, "welcome to the 1990s" to me.

But I'm sure they sound good.

Love the wholly unnecessary mute setting. Oh hang on, let me walk over to the amp and click over to mute

Hi Russell and all Audio Circle members.
Add some Christmas lights
and Christmas decorations and you have a Christmas tree !
I am sure my wife would find those speakers nicer than what I have built.

Hi persisting1 and all Audio Circle members.

The only audio item I do not find ugly in this picture is the Reel to reel tape deck.
I wonder what make and model it is ? ? ?

Don't forget these two:

I owned a similar BSR many years ago and a Stanton 881S a bit later on mounted on a Dual 701.
It was a good cartridge and not quite as clunky looking as the Pickering.

Hi Steve and all Audio Circle members.

I don't have a picture of my first (Ugly) turntable
and also don't remember the name of the manufacturer
(I am sure he's not in business anymore)
but it had something like a 8" platter,
just big enough to handle 45rpm vinyl.
For the cartridge,
if I remember right,
it was an Astatic (Or something that sounds like that)
with a needle that looked more like a nail than a diamond.
The counterweight was non-adjustable and probably fixed at one pound.
(LOL)

That's that Soviet bloc GR knockoff stuff

"Is hifi Spiyeaker. Is mobile, on wheels, like ICBM. Vee replace no rez with feminine hygene product.."

Hi Rclark and all Audio Circle members.

That's my Vietnamese niece,
Bang Tam her name and she's catholic and goes to church twice a week,

I am sure that's better than you ? ! ? !

The foam was only to see if there was a difference in the sound.

Ordering only a few sheets of NoRez from Danny and get it shipped to Vietnam
was way too expensive.

If you put on your reading glasses and look closely at the picture,
you will see that after all, my little variations in design are not far off from the original design of Danny.

The wheels are to give a break to my old back when I try to find the ideal location.

If you show me one of your past project, I can also make fun of what you did.

I would like to see your reaction.

There was lots of hours put into the V1 project
and I am happy with the results.

You must have lots of free time to spend so much time trying to ridicule me in front of all the Audio Circle members.

Guy,
I'm sorry and meant no disrespect re. my comments. Your niece is a lovely girl and my comments were a crude attempt at humor regarding the shape of the speaker( which I did not submit).  I actual think they look good and compliment you on your workmanship.  I would have made the same comment if a similar shaped Theil models was pictured.

So far, I could live with any of the designs featured in this thread.  The Geddes remind me of big PA speakers but if they sound as good as many say, they would have a welcome spot in my system, regardless of looks.  Hopefully the Linkwitz design is a prototype.  I'm sure some creative types could make it look cool.  Just don't put a round tip on it and expect me to not make snide comments.  I can't help it.

Cheers

Jack
