The only thing I don't like about the Ravens is Ray Lewis.  He's a great player but his PED excuse is about as lame as his excuse the night two of his friends killed those two guys.  It would not surprise me if Ray was directly involved.  I'll be happy when this guy is gone from the game.  Maybe the "devil" will stop tormenting him and doing things like altering Ray's voice on a recording where he is requesting illegal PEDs and hiding the bloody suite he wore the night he was involved in a double murder...or double "self defense".

After giving this a little more thought, I hope the Niners win the game so we don't have to see that rediculous dance Lewis always does.  That dance is a murderous assault on my eyes.

Both teams are on a roll and it is going to be a nail biter but in the end i believe that the Ravens will prevail.i dont know exactly what happened in Atlanta but i do know that Ray was never charged with murder.

I don't know what happened either, and how you come down on that incident may depend on your feelings about our legal system (Too many "lucky" breaks for people with money and power and too many awful breaks for those without money and power for my taste).

But there is also the antler spray PED story. Sounds like there is actually a recording of Lewis in addition to the other evidence available.

And I am sure somewhere OJ is asking "Hey, if Ray can get hired for TV work for next year, why can't I?"

'cause O.J. was never able to fulfill his pledge to find his ex-wife's killer, despite an exhaustive search of the world's finest golf courses.  He might have better luck where he is now.

It is more of a slippery slope to try and convict someone in the Court of public opinion vs a court of law.if you can provide citation on Rays supposed crimes instead of hearsay it would make your arguement a much more convincing one.then there is this guy who is trying to sell deer antler spray and he comes out with this stuff Just as Ray Lewis is at the peak of popularity in the NFL Playoffs.do you think that this is just a coincidence ? i think not.

Bunky, you are a good guy and I'm not going to say anything bad about your team.  If Lewis played for Chicago, I would be a fan.  There is no denying his skill and toughness on the field.

The Ravens have a reputation of being thugs but it is a appropriate fit for the city of Baltimore. you are seven times more likely to be a victim of violent crime in Baltimore than you are in New York City.Go Ravens!

I don't have a dog in the fight.  Overall I'd like to see the Niners win it.  It's been along time since they've been in the big game.  Initially I was pissed that they threw Smith under the bus for the kid but that's the way of life in the NFL (and life in general, really).  Kapernick has proven he's the real deal by taking them all the way to the SB, so good on him.  I used to like the Ravens but not so much anymore.  Funny, I spent a couple years telling people Flacco was better than people think, but now that he thinks he's the best I'm a bit nonplussed.  Too much ego and attitude on the Ravens.  Ray Lewis has become a cartoon version of his old self, now his every action screams LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :duh:  Football will be better with him out of it.

Since I don't care all that much about either team I just hope it's a good game.  It's sometimes more fun to watch a game where I'm not emotionally invested. :thumb:

Don't want to derail the thread totally on the Ray Lewis thing. But even with regard to actual legal outcomes, Ray Lewis plead guilty to obstructing justice in a murder trial, which was a plea deal in exchange for his testimony against Oakley and Sweeting.

Those are straight-ahead, court approved facts.

Too soon to tell on the PEDs, but it doesn't pass the sniff test.

(I will again highly recommend the Simmons article on PEDs and sports fans if y'all are killing time before the game: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8904906/daring-ask-ped-question ).

I just heard that the quarterback for the 49ers has a 115 pound pet tortise.
I have just become a 49ers fan.

Just heard our pres on the radio saying he's going to tone down football, instead of tackles there will be a limp slap and a heartfelt apology...

We're becoming the equivalent of a P-whipped man holding his wife's purse. Thanks libs.

Or maybe your husband's purse!  Also thanks to the libs. :thumb:

I wouldn't worry.  College football will still put money and winning ahead of protecting young boys from rapists and concussion.  That means there should be a good steady stream of 40 year old NFL vets that can't tie their own shoes without help for years to come.

If you're like me, you could just feel the collective, almost seething, energy of the Ravens when the game got underway.  I had forgotten the difference maturity and experience can make.  This might be a long day for SF.

Tell this to the families of the guys who can no longer function because they have taken too many shots to the head or the families of players who have committed suicide because they have suffered irreparable brain damage.

I love football but will never let my son play organized tackle football.  The game is just too brutal and there are too many long term brain injuries.  It's easy to talk tough and act macho when you aren't the one getting his brains scrambled.  If they don't find a way to reduce serious head injuries, pro football will be sued out of business.

The president is correct on this one, and I don't find myself saying that very often.  College kids are not protected by collective bargaining or a pension fund. Most never make it to the pros and they don't have millions of dollars or long term insurance.  It's a real problem.

Yes, perhaps my thought that this one will not be a blowout is untrue.

We'll see what the 3rd quarter brings.
