Wow!  Pete Carol blew the game by calling that time out!  What an idiot!  I don't want to hear that be wasn't calling a time out, he was.  He was just pissed because the guy missed it when he called the time out.  No way he was going to miss two on a row.  What a devistating loss.  Great game by Wilson and salmowt great comeback by Seattle.  They had a great season and Seahawks' fans have several reasons to be happy.

The Denver loss takes the cake for most devistating.  I can't imagine dinner table talk around the Elway house.  That horse toothed jackass, Elway, probably still has smoke coming out of his ears.  I love it.

Cheers

what a rookie season for Russell Wilson. That was very nearly the biggest comeback in NFL history. We have the finest rookie quarterback who will take quite a bit from this. We're young and healthy. We can play anybody anywhere. Seahawks will be one to watch next year.

Well, let's see about this super bowl!

Seattle: Hah hah hah blowing a call right at the end? PAYBACK karma for the Packer/Seattle end of game fiasco.
Otherwise it was a great game to watch...
Funny how Seattle would have won except for the Seattle coach...
(whether he DID or did not call time out.. From the close up of his face it did look like he said "I am not calling a time out" and the ref only heard 'time out" LOL)

Carroll is never satisfied.  Here is an example earlier in the season where he complained about refs not giving him a timeout when it didn't go his way.  Why would someone tell the ref, "I'm not calling time out "?  If you don't want a time out, just don't call one.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/10/01/carroll-tried-to-take-time-out-before-fake-field-goal/

Tough ending to a great season but the Seahawks have a good young team and excellent young quarterback.  He reminds me of Drew Brees but is a much better runner.

A great game!  Hats off to Seattle for a thrilling comeback, I was sure the ATL would ram it down their throats in the second half and it was the opposite.  Then with 31 seconds the game is over, right?  No, the ATL drives down the field and has a field goal to win.  Then he misses and it's over, right?  No!  The idiot Carroll calls a timeout to ice the kicker and it backfires.  (Nothing against Carroll, I love it when any coach calls a last second timeout and it backfires.  I hate it and call all coaches idiots when they do it)  Then the kick is made and it's over, right?  No!!  The idiot kicker squibs the kickoff 10 yards!  Seattle has the last second Hail Mary again.  Then, and only then, Jones picks it off and it's truly over.  Wow, what a game.

karma for the Packer/Seattle end of game fiasco.

I agree, Pete Carroll jumping around on the field after the Packers game, Richard Sherman shaking his finger in the first quarter of the Falcons game, dude got punch in the mouth last week for running his gums.

Karma!

Pete Carroll bailed on USC cause he knew sanctions were coming and to save his sorry ass.  I agree that Wilson is a superstar in the making.

Eiizabeth, I didn't know you cared not to mention how with it you are.

Belachick is a brilliant little dude.  Welker is, too.  Brady is an automaton, consistently excellent.  That was the easiest pick of the weekend.

Yeah, a great game that fooled me and all of the experts.  If you take out the two returns for TD's, the Broncos get beat easily, although I didn't want them taken out as it made for a great double overtime thriller.  I understand Smith beating Bailey deep earlier in the game, a great play against single coverage, but how do the Bronco's let Jones beat them in double coverage at the end of regulation?  The Broncos very poor play at times on offense and defense let the door open for the Ravens who played the game of their lives.  All congrats to the Ravens, they deserved the win.

The Green Bay San Fran game was a very competitive game until the fourth quarter.  But throughout the game it seemed the SF O and D lines were controlling the game.  Rodger and his receiving core made some nice plays to keep it close, but they were always scrambling.  It played out like the first game, only in reverse.
Harbaugh made a good decision in starting his new kid.  What poise (after the 1st quarter) and running ability this kid has.  For a tall kid, did you see the size of his arms?  And runs like a gazelle.  Would have preferred GB to win, but that didn't happen.

I have to agree with you. GB stuck with them in the 1st half but the 2nd half was a different story. I also wonder how the outcome would have been if not for the turnovers as well.

Championship round, I get very depressed this time each year, only two more weekends of football.  I don't count the Pro Bowl, it should be a list and not a game, it's embarrassing.  Anyway, on to the games.

San Francisco at Atlanta, with SF favored by 4 points.  Predictors have it much, much closer, 1 and 1.5 points still favoring SF.  Adam Schefter at ESPN notes an interesting fact favoring Frisco, "In each of the past six seasons, an NFC team from the division that played its non-division games against the AFC East during the regular season has wound up in the Super Bowl."  I think it's more about the overpowering offensive and defensive lines of the Niners that will control the game, others think Atlanta's speedy, powerful receivers will be the difference.  Atlanta's defense gives up a ton of yards both running and passing, but not a lot of points.  Atlanta is 3-0 against top ten teams with San Fran at 5-2, so do you say San Fran beat 5 of the top ten, or do you say Atlanta hasn't lost to a top ten team?  The Niners schedule this year was a full 3 points per game stronger than Atlanta.  The quarterbacks are close in QBR, with Kaepernick completing at 61.45% for 8.3 yds per attempt, and Ryan at 68.62% completions but only 7.6 yds each.  Ryan is a turnover machine compared to Kaepernick who has only 4 INT's this year.  San Francisco has 15 dinged up players listed as Probable, Atlanta only 3 as Probable, but a big two as Questionable, Babineaux and Abraham.  I understand they'll both be playing, but certainly not at 100%.  The Niners are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games on fieldturf, but the underdog is 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 meetings.  All of this bodes well for another fantastic game in one of the best, if not the best, post seasons in modern times.  I'm at a complete loss to call this game with any certainty, but I like how San Francisco has been playing on both sides of the ball and I would be worried about how the Falcons have handled running QB's this year, so my pick goes with Frisco outright, but not covering the 4 point spread, the Niners by a fieldgoal.

Baltimore at New England in the late game.  The spread has dropped to 7.5 from an early 9.5, predictors have it at 9.5 and 9 points for New England.  I really think the spread has dropped directly from betters watching all those NFL Channel replays where the Ravens have the Patriot's number, even in the championship loss last year.  All of the statistics are in NE's favor, Brady is better than Flacco in every category, QBR 10 points higher, 37 TD passes to 27, 3% higher completion avg.  Both teams are well balanced in offensive run to pass ratios, which is not good for Baltimore as NE hasn't had an effective running attack for years, and now they do.  The Ravens ranked 20th against the run this year.  The biggest indicator for me is the points differential over the last 3 games, with the Pats averaging 4.5 points more in offense, and get this, 8 points better in defense.  This is over the period the Ravens got Suggs and Lewis back on the field.  Gronkowski's loss is big for New England, but they've been without him as well as Stallworth and Edelman late in the season and they don't seem to miss a beat.  They are getting the Chip Kelly inspired fast break offense down to a T and this is causing no end of problems for opposing defenses, no one's been able to deal with it.  (Hopefully my Eagles will get an infusion of it next year)  Even if the Ravens are successful in getting lined up, which has been their mantra this week, it makes the defense unable to dictate to the offense, something the Ravens have relied on in the past.  All of that being said, we go back to the beginning, the Ravens just have the Patriot's number.  And as much as I hate the Ravens being a Steeler fan, I love Ray Lewis and his story.  Immature and irresponsible transforming to the image of responsible manhood.  It would be fabulous to see him go out a Superbowl contestant and a great story if the Harbaugh brothers face each other.  However my prediction is exactly what I have in the early game, New England wins by a field goal, they move on to the Superbowl, but don't cover the spread for the betters.

That is one of the best game breakdowns that I've ever read. :thumb:

I'll take SF all the way, Falcons will not be able to stop the run game so their time of possession will be limited. Ryan will be under great pressure from SF pass rush all day long. I think it will be a blow out game, prediction : SF 35, Atlanta 13

Brady will be at the top of his game and the Ravens had their upset, it won't happen again. NE 35 Ravens 24

I love who the Bears picked up as their head coach :thumb:

Well, since I'm a Vikings fan I need to have a different team to root for in the post season!  The Pats are my favorite AFC team, so I'll be rooting for them.  I'd like to see Brady get another ring and another SP MVP.  The Vikes will probably win it all next year! :thumb:

Ugh. I don't want any outcome that might give Boston sports fans something to brag about. Insufferable...

One of my buddies is from Boston and we've watched our share of Pats games. See there I go calling them the Pats. His fault. Guess I'm rooting for them.

Unless you are from Hotlanta or Baltimore, I can't see picking the Falcons or Ravens this week.  I predict the Pats and 69'ers will win...and cover.   Atlanta is lucky to be here.  Their comeback last week was amazing.  Today's game will not be as much fun for Atlanta fans.

The Ravens' only hope is for Ray Lewis to murder Tom Brady. Luckily, Ray hasn't killed anyone in years.

Cheers
