I was a bit bummed that ma' boy AP came up a smidge short of the record.  He's been the rare bright spot for us long suffering Vikes fans.  If we could rely on Ponder for 2 TDs a game with some regularity the Vikings would be pretty dangerous.

I'm not a fan of Norte Dame or Alabama, but I hope Bama humiliates the golden domers and the pollsters.

I'm a fan of both teams and I don't think you'll have a problem getting your wish granted.  The Tide will roll.

  The Tide will roll.

Yeah man! :thumb:

My niece is a sophomore rower for The Tide, and she is already jaded with the whole BCS National Championship thing.

Isn't it supposed to be that way?  :o

Yes, yes it is, now go to class!  8)

I saw a documentary of some kind on the telly a week or two ago that appeared to be about Tony Romo.  Man, he was doing his all to encourage the troops.  What I couldn't help noticing is that his troops seemed to walk away from him.  I feel sorry for the cat if what I thought I saw was real.  He had three games in a row where he looked like a franchise QB.  Alas, three picks in his last game makes me wonder about next year.  His owner loves him, tho, or is just stubborn as hell, but had to have seen what we all saw on the field.  Makes me wonder about next season.

Nice weekend comin up and Houston has looked a dog's breakfast while Cincinnati has looked like anything but.  May the best playing team win.

Just a hunch:

-Houston
-Minnesota
-Indianapolis
-Seattle
At this time of the year, any team can beat any other team.

While pretty much only a fair weather sports fan, other than F1 & such, given the Seahawks performance this season I won't be missing the game tomorrow. From what little I've seen I think whoever wins, and it should be close, could take it all. Just my .02. After living in the Seattle area for a while one tends to get a bit indifferent to what the sports teams are doing due to what over my 30 years here has been pretty lame management choices. Lots of outstanding players have passed thru here on their way to fame & fortune, baseball, basketball, and football.

Being a Cubs fan perpetual disappointment is nothing new. But hope springs eternal. Go 'hawks !

Some difficult picks this week for the Wildcard.  I never seem to do well in picking the Wildcard round, but here goes.

Cincinnati at Houston with the Texans giving 4.5 points.  Predictors have it both ways in regards to the spread, one at -3.5 and the other at -5.5, but both predicting a Houston win.  I'm going with Cincy on this one straight up.  Houston has been lackluster of late, losing 3 of 4 to drop out of homefield advantage, the Bengals have been on fire with a front four that is very scary.  Houston has history and the set of skill players on their side, but I'm betting Cincy's O and D lines will win the day.  It's very hard to just turn it on for the playoffs when you haven't been doing it coming in.

Minnesota at Green Bay, who has the nod at -7.5 points just moved to -10.5.  The game will be decided  by how much, or how little, GB can contain AP, which hasn't been too much lately.  Rodgers has a QBR of 108, completes at 67.21%, and will have everyone except maybe Jermichael Finley back.  Amendment here, Ponder has been declared out for the game.  I feel confident that the Packers will win at cold Lambeau Field tonight, but it will not be closer than you think, the Vikes will not cover.  I wonder how many visitors will stay at the Tundra Lodge Resort and Waterpark simply for the waterpark this weekend.

Indianapolis at Baltimore with the Ravens giving 7 points.  Predictors have it at -8.5 and -7 points, and on paper the Ravens are a much, much better team overall.  However they have been playing like dog doo-doo while Luck and his merry band of misfits are playing like Superbowl champs.  I was going for Indy outright, but since Ray Lewis announced his retirement and this will be likely his last game in Baltimore, the emotional tide now evens out and I see them winning, but by less than 7.  Luck's stats are pretty pedestrian with 18 INTs, a QBR of 76.5, and completion at 54%.  The rookie will look more like a rookie than a worldbeater, take the points, but Baltimore will move on in the playoffs.

Once again the best game is last this week, Seattle at Washington with the visiting Seahawks giving 3 points.  Predictors have it even more at 5.5 and 3.5 points.  Lots of ballyhoo about the Hawks not being a road team at 3-5, but the Skins haven't been much of a home team either at 5-3 both home and away.  The Hawks are 5-1 against top 10 teams and 7-2 against top 16 teams, the Skins are 2-2 against the top ten and 4-5 against the top 16.  The QB matchup is about equal with very similar stats, the Seattle defensive speed will be the difference, Seahawks cover.

I shouldn't have wanked on Houston, but their offense, beginning with Shaub, still look shakey to me.  Foster rocks but NE will put up too many points, Watt or not.

Yeah I was wrong about the Texans, they did turn it on.  But if Dalton could have hit his open receivers and his open receivers would have caught the ball, Cincy would have won by 14 or more.  Of course everyone knows that if "If and buts were soups and nuts, a Merry Christmas it would be".  However looking forward I don't think Brady will be missing those receivers for touchdowns and they won't be dropping balls, for the most part anyway.

With the Viking's first drive I thought, oh no, Minnesota found Ponder's replacement.  Then for some unknown reason, the Vikes abandoned the read option offense and things went true to form.  Why would they do that?  The Packer defense was on it's heels trying to figure out where the run was coming from.  Webb was doing the right thing and diving for the ground avoiding big hits, it was working great.  Then they told him to drop back.  Why?  I suspect typical NFL coordinator stuff, they had used up the plays in the read option and had to move on in the playbook.  Baloney.  The read option only has the three plays, keep running them.  The only thing you change is go to play action when they bring up the strong safety, but still off the read option.  Anyway, I got lucky there and ended up with the right pick.

About time guys.  Sorry, but I just can't  empathize how difficult it was to divvy up the $$$$$ between you.    Don't let it happen again.  In time now that football will be over soon.

My salvation will be tennis.  I've picked Baltimore for today but my sentimental favorite is Indy.

My Colts lost to a better team today, so congrats to the Ravens and Ray Lewis. It was great to see the Colts come so far this year.

It's the other Lewis (in Seattle) though, that is a blast to watch. Good luck to the Seahawks. I sure love the way they play.
