So it appears that the afternoon of Sunday June 13th is the best for the most. Say, from noon on. I'll PM address/directions to those posted here, or get hold of me directly if you wish.

Feel free to start posting what you'd like to do, hear, see, bring, etc. Looking forward to seeing you!

Inscrutable:

Why don't you post what your current setup is so we can get ideas on what to bring and compare during our Juneteenth  meeting. . .

The only 'new' thing I have to play around with is an Eastern Electric power amp.  It's an 8w tube amp.  If anyone has any high-efficiency, full range speakers (like Omega's), I'd really like to hear what this combination does.

Also, if anyone has any moving coil cartridges they'd like to show off, I'd like to hear them.  I know Tim has a good vinyl rig.... I'd like to at least hear what he has setup now.

Those are the things in my world these days.  I'm hoping to be able to have an audio PC shootout in August or so.

I guess you guys didn't register your systems. Inscrut and I did. Check out his "My Blue Heaven " listing. That's his system.

There are a few recent changes to the system, but few for the better I'm afraid.  I am STILL awaiting my APL 563 ... doubt it will arrive in time.  The NEC is out of commission and in need of some boards.  And I sold the Lehmann in anticipation of a complete vinyl overhaul which has not yet happened.  My new seats and curtains have not arrived yet either.  I was going to get a candy counter from a friend/church which i found out was actually in use when I went to pick it up.   Some new cables and lots of new music - both vinyl and polycarbonate - are the lone bright spots in my otherwise abyssmal last few months of non-grades.  Please bring me new toys ... I NEED new toys!  :(

On the plus side, the food will be excellent

This may turn into more of a 'media' than a 'hardware' meet.  I'll suggest that everyone bring one new 'discovery' to turn us onto.  I have several really good recent finds.

Shane, it's too bad you'll missit ... I know you were SOOOO looking forward to the 3.3's   (but i was hoping to change your mind)

Carl, actually we need a meet at Claud's to hear a really good vinyl rig.  I keep trying to talk him into upgrading and selling it to me ... again

Again, unless Alex comes through unexpectedly, we need someone to cart over a CDP or we are going to be spinning CD's thru the HTPC - not an attractive option in my system.

I don't need to hear a 'really good' vinyl rig because that will equate to 'really expensive' which won't pass the accountant/boss.  However, I want to hear yours and I'll bring some vinyl to spin.

Additionally, I'm still brining the little amp.... hopefully someone has some high efficiency speakers to attach to it.  Anyone? Please?

I'll be driving to SC this weekend so, I'll be stopping to see Ed at the Horn Shop for a quick demo on my way to a wedding.  The wife will love it.

As to a CDP, I'm willing to bring my Pioneer DV-656a.  It was mod'ed to be a great transport... However, would still need a DAC to be 'world class'.  As it is, it sounds like a slightly above average CDP when using the internal DAC.

Looking forward to it... I'll be sure to bring tunes.

A friend of mine has some New Audio Frontiers Reference IV's, and they are 92db.  Only problem is, they are 120+ lbs. each, and I can't fit them in any, or both of my vehicles.

Thanks for trying, B.

I'd really like to hear some Omega's.  It's an area of hifi I've had little experience with... time to dive in!

If Carl or one of you wants to swing by, you are more than welcome to take any of the CD players I have here to use for demo....  I'll want it back of course :)

I'm sorry I am going to miss this meeting....  Tim,  I was willing to suffer to see if you could change my mind about those 3.3s..... but I've yet to have anything less than a teeth grinding, splitting headache experience every single time I've heard them.....it could have been the source gear, but I'm sure the speakers had something to do with it :)

have fun everyone.... I'll try to bring back some new celtic stuff from home for our next meeting.... maybe that will be a teeth grinding, splitting headache experience for y'all...

Since Shane is going home , we need to have the next meeting as soon as he returns at his place. Guys, Have you forgotten what Shane brings back from home? He carts a load of that REALLY good beer.
If I am able to make the meeting on the 13th, I'll bring my 308T and its cords.

I have a new Sharp digital amp SM-SX1, a stereo 50w  amp originally sold for $4500. If someone is interested, I can bring it over. According to Stereophile, this amp works well with analog input (needs external phono preamp for vinyl).

By all means, anyone who'd like to bring toys to share would be more than welcome.  I'd love to hear the Plinius (and for that matter the Sharp) compared to my Citation.

I'm open about timing ... I'd say we'd start around noonish, or whenever it's convenient to get here.

BTW, I've remedied my CDP situation, but I've not seen the whites of its eyes yet, and anyone who'd still like to bring one is welcome/encouraged.

So does anyone else want to hear the Plinius?  Unless a majority wants me to bring it, I will just set something up with Tim for later to compare them.

I will be at the beach and unable to attend. It will be Sept or Oct before I am able again. Carlman, just hold my shirt.

Would 50w/8 ohms be enough to drive your speakers?
