Who's got a pair on order and what cabinet will you be building?

Here's a few shots of my pair.

Why not ask Dave (P-10) if he's got a Mar-Ken enclosure worked up for this baby?
Wonderful cab for the Alpair 10.2, FWIW
Will follow your experience with these!

Seems theAlpair12 alloy cone are replaced by the paper cone, that is a good news.
The Alpair12 plans(Scot-Pensil and Dual Column Air Coupler for Mark Audio A12 from P10) are no more avaliable on the site.
Both plans can fit well to this new paper cone Alpair.

Not heard of the new baby, thanks for the heads up! This is pretty impressive:

Wish they wouldn't call it an 8" though, Sd is 147 cm2.

I pleased these break-in detailed information from the manufacturer to let the user well informed about what he is purchasing.
These Alpair drivers are precision products, special care are need to breakin, they are paper cone, refined music, inexpensive, the only prob are the Alpair12 are no hi sensitivity=100dB drivers, maybe in the future...

Not 100, but speced at nearly 92, quite a lot more than earlier drivers.

This is good, I sure MA will be able to make a hi sensitivity Alpair in the future.
I wonder how much tube watts are need to drive these A12 drivers??

Well, don't know about "tube watts", but the Alpair 10.2's sing nicely with 8!

OK, thanks for inform, so Iam sure a 6C33 SET can run a Alpair12.
A small 2W 45 tube amp, seems to sing as a bigger amp to the ear, so this is the ''tube watts'' I refer.

It is a nominal 6 1/2" with a bezel size more commonly seen in an 8".

Madisound did the same thing when they got the 1st MAs in, but changed it when they were poked.

Chris has Mar-Ken12.2pT 2/3rds done, he is just waiting to get his hands on the driver to calibrate the holey brace. At least 10 days on the break-in bench before i can measure them to mtch pairs (Jeff is getting the other pair and we'll be doing a Super Pensil 12.2p flat-pak for him.

yes,  the tapered variety.  As Dave notes above, we're just waiting to get our hands on the drivers - expected in the next day or so.

As to sensitivity - Mark spent rather a long time on R&D for this driver to attain higher sensitivity requested by DIYers / vendors.  I think that as far as he's concerned, until affordable new materials arrive or a visitor from the future delivers new insights into the laws of physics     (who's been watching far too much fanboy syfy?  :green:) , he's reached a threshold of compromise of extended Freq Response, dispersion and excursion

Further to my above post;  like a lot of folks, I had some initial concerns about the moderately low sensitivity specs for several of Mark's smaller drivers when first entertaining their use.  What I found in the real world was that due at least in part to the very cleverly engineered "built-in BSC / EQ" and wide dispersion put a lot more energy in the room than you'd expect.

Expecting to get my pair end of next month. Good to see both a 'Ken and Pensil being built by P10 and friends, and look forward to a some listening impressions soon.

Make sure that the break in starts real quick! :D

maybe - there could be a cover charge involved  (I'll likely be camping out again, so no worries about a road-block, if that helps shorten the gift registry)  :thumb:

just buttoned up the last panel this morning - glued will be dry and final trimming sanding by this evening - awaiting only  Dave's handing off the drivers for populating the boxes

no pressure, Dave

oh, someone (Cal / Bernie) would have a big enough truck to clear it, or for that matter, bribe Daniel to fire up the Kubota
