+1 on the Zesto. That is one great looking unit.

Any posters out there try or are using the Parasound JC phono ($2350?) with a Classic I? Have been considering that one for my Classic I, though I am currently using Sumiko Blackbird. A true LOMC may benefit more.

Thanks. Enjoy the Zesto !

The Parasound JC1 is outstanding.  Works well with the Blackbird and the Denon 103 as well.
Great phono stage at the price point.

Good luck, I am sure you will enjoy it. At a weak moment I sold my first one but just recently, came to my senses and acquired another.

Now you can forget going to sleep early and start the analog adventure.  Hope everything goes well but if you start hearing some hum, don't worry.  It's like a rite of passage for LOMC.  You will work it out.  But then Zesto has all that tweaks with grounds and stuff to "eliminate" hums.  :thumb:  Enjoy the sound and the process!  Phono cable makes more difference than IC with digital.  I prefer using balanced input into phonostage (like you have on Zesto) but I don't know if you can do that with the Classic.

I liked Zesto.  If I didn't already have a tube phono stage I really like and wasn't picking up a Soundsmith Strainguage at the show, I would have been far more into it.  I promised to go back and chat with George but couldn't make it.

You say you are set with cart but that will change in time.     If you want to try a Koetsu, give me a holler.  I have a couple of spare Rosewoods lying around.  It could be a good match for the Zesto.  Koetsu and its bloom is an addictive sound if you are one of those who hear the "magic."

Leave it to Rim to help you slide the Koetsu needle (sic) in...

Yes, I/C make a difference...indeed...
Also, VPI does make an XLR Junction box...you can order it from them

Never mind that it costs more than the table and would buy a LOT of shoes for someone :o

My Zesto is quiet with the MC transformer built in, but it takes a bit of cable dressing and trial and error on the grounds. Once the music starts I don't notice what little hum there is left (at high volume), as it sounds really good :thumb:

Thanks for the tips and my no hum fingers are crossed.

I'm still amazed at the VPI phone hours.  Tues-Thursday 12-5   :o

They are very helpful when you reach them. With my luck, I received a HW-16 RCM I bought on eBay after 5 pm EST on a Thursday, and then they were closed the whole next week for the Newport Show. Thankfully the eBay seller was a good and patient guy who ended up refunding me my money, while keeping the broken machine (which lemme tell you is no longer broken, thanks to a new turntable motor!).

and don't forget to mute or lower your volume when turning off the table to avoid the VPI "pop".

Thanks.  I had to try it and see if it did it and it didn't.  Actually dead silent.  Call it lucky but it made no noise.   :dunno:

The VPI Classic arrived yesterday and I just finally got a chance to get it all setup and running.  Dead silent with the Zesto Andros too.  I was actually thinking it wasn't working as it was so quiet.  Lucky!!!!

Sounds pretty darn good but I need to experiment with cart loading on the Zesto and I REALLY need a RCM now.  Guess that will be next.   :o
