what is the philosophy behind the fact that all Bryston integrated amps with the built in DAC 'only' can handle up to 96/24 digital signals? is it that the redesign of the DAC would be too expensive or is it that Bryston feels that anything higher than 96/24 should be done by their BDA-1??

Yes it would mean a redesign and given the limited number of inputs on the preamps the BDA-1 is just the better option.

Yes it is an SST2 type amplifier circuit.

Hi James - any personal perspectives on the sound of the B135 vs. B100 vs. say a BP6 + 2B/SST2.  Of the three, would the B135 be the leading choice now in terms of transparency and low distortion?  How is the presentation different between the B135 and B100 and is it actually overall higher performing?  I referenced your comments on the SP3's sound vs. the BP26 in this thread.  Thanks!

Thanks James.  And yes it is, so now my dilemna is how do I take advantage of this with my 4B-SST2?  Do I replace my BP6 with a B135 on preamp duty or wait for a Bryston 2ch preamp to be released that leverages these latest innovations in preamp designs?

Can we expect to see these improvements make their way across the Bryston preamp line, within the next 12 months?

With the price held fixed at current - that would be extremely tempting.   The next question would be whether such a BP17 would actually outperform a BP26.  I would say that if it would then providing such a BP17 with XLR in/out would be the cat's meow!

I'd like to see a BP28 -- using the same general topology as the current 26, but with the new discrete surface mount op-amps from the SP3. (My BP25 with MPS-1 is still an amazingly great preamp. Coupled with a fairly new 4B-SST2, and a BDA-1, it makes a great system, so it's not like I'm complaining Just looking for an excuse to upgrade my toys )

If these new surface mount op-amps/input buffers are such an improvement, perhaps using them for the input buffers for the SST2 series amps will result in an improvement in them too. I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the boys in engineering at Bryston aren't finding out if that is the case.

No plans at this point other than a BP17 which will be the preamp section from the 135 integrated amp.

Quick question......

The 135 will be replacing an Anthem225 to which I had my BCD-1 connected with Bryston XLR's. Would it make sense then to pick up some Bryston RCA's to connect the 135 and CD-1?
