Nag, nag, nag!

The tweeter section was more robust than I expected, and once I moved the 1.6s out of the way the 20.s seemed to blend better aesthetically with the room.  Can't go messing with the Feng Shui (or as I like to call it, Sheng Fooey) after all. More photos to follow tomorrow.  Gotta teach tonight.

Couldn't bare to look at the speakers this morning, or I would have called in sick.

... What a difference there.  I wonder if you can use all of them in some kind of trinaural format? Smaller ones as the center channel?

Sorry Mr. Clark.

Thanks for the pictures with the 1.7s(?) for perspective. I now know that the 20s are too big for my room.

I thought about that, or even as sound dampeners, but I need to sell them to pay for the big ones.

Or I could just run them all together and have a "wall of sound", a la Phil Spector.

Happy to oblige!  I was thinking last night that the 3.7s would be a perfect size (visually) for the room.  Could have saved some money, but wouldn't have gotten the "slam."

And once I moved the 1.6s out of the way and spread out the 20s, it looks much more balanced and less crowded.

Bob, congrats man on the new spkrs. Looks like a great space to have them in.
I know you just got them but are you planning on bi-amping the 20's with my Hafler?
Since you're room looks quite large I guess you are going to keep the tweeters to the inside for greater center focus?

I have found inside tweeter only sounds good on the short wall of a rectangular room, typical placement.

Welllll, there's a story about the Hafler....................:)

I took all but my Parasound amp to Computronics to be checked out, and will be blasting up I-44 to get 'em tomorrow.  The Moscode passed with flying colors, as did the BGW.   the Hafler had some things out of phase (I may have done that) and an intermittent channel.  I'll try all the SS amps on the bass and choose the winner.  The others will go on CL.

Brick:

What model BGW do you have?  I have a 500D from the 70's that still sounds pretty good, except for the fan noise between tracks...need to bypass it :duh:

I've had the following SS amps over the last few years; Parasound HCA1500A, Bryston 4B SST2, and the BGW.  They all have their strengths, but I liked the Parasound the best, more natural and laid back.

I have the 500D.  Looks fairly good.

The Parasound is quite detailed on the 20s, but lacks the horsepower to play loud and gets pretty hot after an hour or so.  I think I'll still prefer the Moscode when it gets back.   No telling what combination I'll end up with for the low end.  Still wouldn't rule out using my DQ-1w subs with a 3rd amp.

Congatulations!
That was quite a journey from thinking about doing it to having them actually set up.
I hope that they bring you and your wife many happy hours together.

Hell no, the 20s are PERFECT! You just need to upgrade that TV to a 60" flat screen and it'll look AWESOME  :green:

Are you planning on running solid state and tubes on these beauties?
You never did tell us about the turntable, I don't believe.

Naa, think Home Theater....as in 5.1. You just need to get one of those ginormous TVs a Maggie center channel and a sub and you're in business :thumb: (also officially broke)
