For any inductor, if you are not soldering to an already stripped or tinned end, you will need to remove the thin insulative coating at the location where you will be soldering a connection.

Scraping it with a utility knife blade is faster than sanding, but either method will work.

Thought I'd share my Nx-Treme cross over layout to make sure there's nothing too wrong with it.

I tried to follow the inductor recomendations.

I would before its too late recommend replacing your Lynx metal oxide resistors. That sub $1 part just doesn’t bode well with foil inductors and nice bypass caps. You have champagne and beer mixed in there. ID recommend some nice wire wound like mills.

They're Dayton wirewound resistors, I think Danny had supply issues with the Mills ones but I'm not sure.
I like the analogy of beer with champagne

It just sounds like you accidentally got an extra. So if its not on the diagram, you can leave it out.

The lead from the coil is is a bit long, but you can easily trim it down to a more reasonable length once you're ready to run wires from the front to the back.

Nope it already has an iron core running through it, so adding screws to mount it into place won't have any effect.

Hobbs, I found an old post of yours... My X-LS Encore Kit will arrive soon. Is your build just the base kit, not the upgrade? And did you mount the crossover on the included wood with the flatback? I've watched Danny's videos and I'm using your pictures as a guide.

Yup, that was a base kit, as it was my very first build and I didn't want to risk messing up expensive parts with my lack of experience. :p

This was the board provided with my cabinets, Killian has since started providing much slimmer melamine boards for the crossovers than the one in this picture.
