Some more pelicans - these are also Brown Pelicans. The youngsters have a brown head and the adults have a yellow on white head. These are "tame" pelicans, some are banded on their leg. They are fed by the airboat drivers, so its the "if you feed them they will come" effect. They glide in to the airboats and land right on the edge of the boat to the amazement of the passengers. One lady last week apparently had a panic attack, screaming at the top of her lungs, when eight pelicans landed on the boat. I imagine the pelicans were not even fazed....these are cute and seemingly friendly birds, although they are can be a little disconcerting when they walk right up to you in a slow moving airboat...

An Osprey eating a fish in the waterway leading to the everglades. Ospreys mate for life, and would rather die than let go of a caught fish.

Cute pelicans!  I like their frumpy 'expression'.  They don't look too scary to me, but I suppose they do have quite a weapon with that giant beak.

There is some extreme detail in these if you click on them a few times to get the full size.

All with the Pentax Kx and tamron 90mm macro, at a bird park somewhere between Margret River and Bussleton, Western Australia.

I am not nearly as good as all of you (yet...), but here are a couple of shots I took while vacationing in St. Lucia the past week.  These shots were with my Nikon D700 and 18-200 lens.

This one enjoyed wallowing in the dirt, in my backyard, the other day. Look's like it was really enjoying itself.

Thanks George,
Just a word of caution going down the path of photography can be just as addictive as audio  :banghead:.

PS, you have some nice gear already.

Is that a fish in its claws? It probably shows up fine in actual resolution...
