It's not where I live now, because there are no good radio stations in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area ; but the best radio station I have heard is KCBO 97.3 FM in Boulder Colorado--World Class Rock. They have a show called Studio C where artists come in and play live on the radio. The also do a limited issue CD at the end of the year of their DJs favorite new artists. People stand in line to obtain a copy.
I thought KEWU 89.5 (Eastern Washington University) out of Cheney was pretty good.
I've never listened to it in my 15 years in the area, so I just tuned it in and I now know why I have never listened to it--it was playing jazz and the vinyl lady never listens to jazz.
Ortho can't understand jazz but maybe someday in the future I will get into it. Hope it's not too much off topic but the word "EVER" makes me want to say WNEW NYC in the 1970's. Seems like so many of these DJ's are on XM/Sirius now!Paul
Bonus points if you know what WPLJ stood for.
Bonus points if you know what college WFMU was affiliated with back then.
White Port and Lemon Juice. Song done by Frank Zappa on Cruisin' with Reuben and Jets.Upsala College

Sorry to say that the FCC shut down my favorite station, Kyote Radio... which operated as a 5 watt powerhouse for the ghost town of Terlingua for 10 years that I know of, maybe longer. The ladies of the community did impose regulations, insisting that they stop referring to the F%*^ing FCC on the air, but that other nearly equally descriptive adjectives were acceptable. For some reason, the feds decided to travel to this little town near Mexico last year and threatened to imprison the offenders. My days of hearing Rachmaninoff, Oscar Peterson, Dire Straits, and the Light Crust Dough Boys - all back to back with zero commercials- is over. http://www.kyoteradio.org/
