Realistically, James , are there any plans to alter or further evolve the bp26 in the near future.?  Thanks

Not really - it would mean a whole new redesign.

Mmm... I'd like to see the Pre amp unit and PSU in one BIG, thick, heavy box, with double decker PCB design,  dedicated XLR tape loop, and at least 2+2 XLR+RCA outputs. Oh, and please keep all the spare power outlets.....

I'm kinda tired of friends asking 'What's that thin little thing, there's no controls on it?'  'Ah, it's the seperate power supply..'

The separate power chassis is supposed to better isolate the preamp from transformer flux noise. (what i have believed) Dropping this idea would be a step backwards . I would buy  the idea of the MPS 2  having two transformer like the power amp design and eliminate the extra power outlets .  (MPE 3 ?)  .

There are many very well respected / reviewed and EXPENSIVE pre-amps out there that do not use separate chasis for power.  They do though, within one chasis, separate the power supply and isolate it and or shield it within the same chasis.
It can also be argued that adding a second chasis for the power supply of a preamp increases the sources of vibrational influences, as you now have double the feet and chasis to isolate.  There is also the fact of the additional power connection between the two chasis, which could possibly be protected and controlled more within the same chasis.

This does not mean that a single chasis is necessarily better than two - but rather that a single chasis can be designed and executed in a manner that produces the same or better result as a dual chasis design.  It''s just a matter of engineering, design and implementation.

IMO having extra power outlets for less demanding modules such as crossover and switch box is a good idea, both cost saving and space saving.

But i'm not so sure about the advantages of having two seperate boxes.  A simple metal shield and dedicated PCB design should be more than enough to supress any possible interference and with the extra space provided by a bigger box, the designer can always double shield the vital components or even dedicate an isolation chamber, or 'cage' . I've seen some hyper expensive designs placed digital ,analog and power components in seperate, hollowed out metal blocks. all inside one thick bomb proof box. I'm very confident that it'll survive the next nuclear war.  :green:

The only true advantage i can see from having seperate PSU box is that you can make both boxes very small, like those Nagra pre amps and CDPs, but Mmmm.  I have plenty of space...

1.  Home Theater pass-through
2.  Remote controlled source selection
3.  Balanced and single ended connectors for each input and output
4.  Drop the separate power supply
5.  Line level output for the BHA-1
6.  Target price < $5000

I would like to see a combination on the BP-26 and the BDA-1, with HT pass though, software control and balance connectors.

At this point I'm sick of substandard equipment, so I'd just like to see a top quality flag-ship product at whatever the price. No software bugs, no suriprises.

Please make it.
