4b st...extra power
« on: 20 Sep 2011, 02:47 am »
When I bought my 4b st (late 1999 model) the bench test sheet stated that the actual output was 310 left channel and 311 on the right. Is this the case with the new squared version? It would be nice if there is another40-50 watts of undeclared clean power there. ;a 340 watt 4b; !    :thumb:

My 7BSST2 amps checked out at 649 and 664, well above the 600 spec.  I think most check out above spec.

HI,

How do you all know how your Amps are bench-tested? I never received anything to go with my Amps but a manual. Not even the boxes...Is there some test-report I am missing?

Greetings,
Marius

Yeah, Every Bryston amplifier leaves the factory with a hand written and signed test report (and a printed graph for Preamps). It's very nice to know that the gear is checking out above spec.  :green:

I think Bryston also keeps a copy of the original report, maybe it's possible to look up the original if you know the S/N.

My Beasties are 1280 watts each and if I remember correctly, one of our member's 28's are rated above 1300 watts.

Tim the Tool man would be very happy  :D

Be well...

Seriously, there should be some kind of law against this type of abuse. Perhaps we should suspend 1oldguy's AudioCircle membership

I didn't know Binford made amplifiers as well.  Haven't seen one reviewed.  They probably come with warning labels, something about blowing the windows out of your house .
