Jack sez: I do not have the words.

Let me take a shot at it then....the sonic heavens opened and I went into this deep audiophilic swoon (much like when I heard that first campaign speech back in '08 )...angelic harps were placed properly in space against, dare I say in this particular heaven, the noir-est of noir backgrounds.  And there, floating above it all, Jon Valin giving me a thumbs up...well that pretty much nailed it for me....these must be best Jon's ever heard...uh, this month.

Did that capture it Jack?   Just a little fun my friend.  The 9s and the 11s could very well be the best of the best but alas, something I may never experience first hand  :(

I've owned 9s for over three years and have listened to them for four. I think it can be said, I have a firm grasp of their capabilities. The top loudspeaker designers will tell you that the crossover is the heart of a loudspeaker. Well, this one got a heart transplant. I honestly don't know what to say bro. I could wax poetic but that wouldn't really tell the story. I know it isn't perfect but I don't know where it fails in any criteria.  :duh: :duh: :duh:

The way my left brain and right brain are fighting it out to fathom the degree of improvement all around probably WILL make my head explode Gavin    Gimme some time and I'll eventually sort things out. I don't know what I was expecting, you know I have a bit of a cynical side. I surely wasn't expecting a WTF? moment! I'm still shaking my head in disbelief. My eyes can't seem to come to terms with my ears. I mean the speaker looks the same but sounds totally different and better in every way. I'd say the difference is as great as going from GenIII HSE's to 5 Annies except there's the shock of so much more useful, tuneful and deeper bass to go along with the improvements in the mids and highs. It's like they grew another pair of 15"ers. The midbass is so much tighter too.

See.....I'm beginning to sort things out already  :green:

I'll catch Albert and Damon tonight. It's Keith's B'day party.

In the meantime, here are some of pics for ya.

Hello chief ewok
Looks like you guys are having a ball!!....is the upgrade more like being there or the 9se on turboboost ......are there changes to the midrange and woofer drivers or just better quality components in the crossover plus vsa wiring....I think the real magic is in the plotting , planning and the anticipation of the events leading to the upgrade......remember paradise in all in your mind......to keep the passion going.......make  sure you do not make peace with your mind.....then the magic is surely over
Chief.....a good photo essay will be just nice
Happy listening

So now you are going to change your profile........??

Pictures to follow shortly Gavin  :thumb:

Hey there Bill! Wookie Commanders are supposed to make sure the vines they swing on Tarzan style are firmly attached. So I guess I am not certified for speaker upgrades but am allowed to strip wire and be a cable slinger. I was given the chance to take a mallet and a crowbar to the old boards but I chickened out!

Change of Avatar.......hmmmmmm........sounds like a plan!

I like Star Wars and all but as an M3 owner I vote against the change of avatar.

Nice! Those cars look like they are straight out the factory floor!

Here's a pic of the VR-9s (still in Mk.1 guise) in Sepang Bronze

I'm looking to order a pair of VR-4s in Jerez Black Metallic. Gotto love the hint of blue when the light hits it.

Simply stunning my man!

Thanks for the compliment on keeping my cars clean.  I just got rid of a 95 M3 that was even cleaner:
