Perhaps the mightiest slap in the face of music has been the music file, easily downloaded and put into a playback device. This format strips the meat from the bone. Imagine an orange, squeezed by a gorilla. It's still an orange, but in name only. If Otis Redding could hear his music on MP3, he'd wonder what hack was trying to impersonate him.
I do like his work, Fwiw, and am grateful to see him entering audiophilia. What do you think?
I looked at his name a few times before I got it.Henry Rollins? Lead in editorial in stereophile?I'm not sure how I feel, I mean it is not like Iggy POP doing a gap add, but there is a blending of outlines implied. Like hearing joy division muzak at Starbucks.I do like his work, Fwiw, and am grateful to see him entering audiophilia. What do you think? It definitely makes one think, perhaps pig destroyer is one step closer to mainstream?
What do you think stereophiles choosing him was about? Not bad or good, just what is the message? I don't mean to start any bashing, just think he is like part of my generation and my music and I always felt so marginalized by the audio industry being into punk/thrash/metal.Maybe Jello Biaffra will write next month?
