It's hard for me to have a definitive opinion with a system that I'm not very familiar with, with music that I'm not very familiar with, and without a lot of time.
Having said that:
Clean and clear.
Slight warmth.
Great presence.
Neither laid back nor very fast and alive. In between.
In between a push-pull and a low power SET.
My impression was a of great all arounder that does nothing wrong but was quite musical and convincing, detailed, clear and open, without fatigue and had particularly strong presence.
In general, I try to stick to high efficiency, easy to drive speakers and low power amplifiers, perhaps even flea power amplifiers. So Von Gaylord would be a departure, but if I were in the market today for a wholesale change, I would very much be open to a Von Gaylord system.
Also, given my unfamiliarity with high power tube amplifiers for difficult to drive speakers, I would likely pick both the speakers and the amplifiers to bias in favor of likely synergy.
It was a good room.
