Technically these were my first set of speakers--they detach.   G.E. Trimline 500.  It rocked--at least enough to piss my dad off.  :thumb:

I see one for sale on eBay for $223.99.  Wonder if my mom would sell my old one back to me for $20.   It's mint. Ruined a lot of vinyl on that beast.

That would be a pair of ADS 810 speakers I purchased in 1976 for $450.  I listened to them for eighteen years until I bought a pair of ProAc Response 3s in 1994.  I sold the ADS pair for half what I paid for them.

My fathers first speakers in a console with a record player.  All  I heard was the country singer Jim Reeves day and night.

Dynaco A25. Ex- brother-in-law still has them and they still work. Best $55/ea I ever spent.

Great pictures of the past you guys! I didn't have the foresight (or a camera) to take any pictures back then.

My first pair of speakers were a pair of Radio Shack 5 1/4" full range drivers with whizzer cones. I used two large identical cardboard boxes for the enclosures. I think I was twelve or thirteen at the time. No money to buy wood and no woodworking skills.

The first finished pair of speakers that I purchased were Realistic Minimus 7s. Little black metal enclosures with 4 inch woofer and 1 inch dome tweeter. That was around the beginning of the mini-monitor craze.

Mine was an Arcam Delta 2 speakers which I think I paid £280. I ran it with a Mission Cyrus 2 amp, seems like a lifetime away now.

This was similar to my first real system after the Radio Shack system

Bose 601 speakers
Techniques SLQ-1200 Turntable with Stanton 681EEE cartridge
Pioneer SX 1080 Receiver
Teac A-100 Cassette player

I purchased mine from TEAM electronics in Omaha in the late 70's.

not counting my folks Electrohome console or RCA mono record player, it'd have to be the delco 6x9 car radio speakers hung in corner mounted open baffles in a small basement bedroom (circa 1961),

after that my first "real" system was Noresco Consolette ( Dual 1210 with ceramic cartridge) and some crappy little Noresco 2-ways -  bought with earnings from TV Guide delivery ( remember that?) and paper-route '64 or so- believe it or not, I never looked inside these very first speakers!

Woofers have been refoamed and the polydome midrange, the yellow dome, regrafted by Bill Legal at Millersound, PA.  Awesome sounding speakers.

A pair of small, Heathkit "acoustic suspension" bookshelf speakers I built around 1965.  First pair that were really any good were Original Large Advents.

Not counting the Circle of Sound speakers with my Zentith cheapo set I savedd all summer (cutting lawns) and bought a set of the original Advent (large) w/utility cabinets. The walnut veneer were another $10.00 ea ($20.00 whole dollars! jeepers). If I remember correctly the were $220.00 for the pair.

I can't be sure this is the exact model, it's been awhile after all, but they were at least similar to these HH Scott 166's, maybe the model before them.

For all I know they are still at the ex's house along with the Allison 3's that replaced them.
