F.S. Virtue Audio 2.2 with 130w power supply
« on: 11 Jun 2011, 10:57 pm »
I have for sale my "as new" Virtue 2.2 in black, as I have replaced it with the Virtue Sensation. I am the original purchaser of the amplifier and have owned it for about 7 months.  I have all of the original packaging, as well as one of the very scarce wooden volume knobs in addition to the stock chrome knob.  Both the stock 24v 60w power supply and the optional 30v 130w supply are included.  I also have both the red and silver logo badges.  Total cost of the 2.2 and 130w power supply new is about $650 with shipping.   I am asking $495 for the package.

I will ship anywhere in the US for a flat rate of $15.00

Thanks for reading!

Per the Virtue amp page (http://store.virtueaudio.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=27), the Virtue TWO.2 (as well as the ONE.2 and Sensation), "Power is approximately half (44 wpc) into 8 ohms. With the 130w supply, you will achieve max output into 8 ohms."

I own a TWO.2 with the 130W power supply and it easily has powered all kinds of speakers with plenty of reserve. I use mine with a Piano M1 CD player and Squeezebox Duet running through a Grant Fidelity Tube DAC-09 that acts as a DAC/pre-amp and with a simple jumper change the TWO.2 is easily converted into a power amp only and sounds even better that way. Fantastic units in my opinion and will only get harder to find as time goes on and the Virtue Line expands...good luck with your sale!!

Was the upgrade from 2.2 to Sensation a clear and noticeable jump on your 'phones?

Yes it was, but I think the differences were largely due to the fact that the Sensation has the Sonicaps with Platinum bypass whereas the 2.2 has the Auricaps which have a warmer SQ that is a bit less detailed.   I preferred the Sensation with the tube buffer active, as I can listen without fatigue.  Without the buffer active, the level of detail was sometimes more than I preferred with some types of music.

I think with the same brand of caps in both, the sound would be nearly the same.  Whether the same differences would be noticeable with speakers, I couldn't say, as I have only used both with my balanced phones.

The "reply-to field" should be set correctly - hitting "reply" in your email program should set the correct return address.
