Hey Scott, don't be knocking Karen Carpenter. She had a good voice.... Consider for a moment, if Mama Cass had only shared her sandwich with Karen Carpenter...

That's cold  :o

And here I was concerned about saying that her drumming sounded a bit "thin."  :icon_lol:

Nels,

There's a whole other thread going on AC about people's favorite drummers. Don't get off topic.  :icon_lol:

I saw them a week ago last Thursday at the Fox Theater in Oakland CA. Rick Rosas played bass and Joe Vitale drums in place of the departed Bruce Palmer and Dewey Martin. It was a terrific show. They really had something special back in the late 60's. They looked and acted like they were having the time of their lives. I posted a couple of pics here http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=9086.msg951356#msg951356
More dates are planned for the fall :thumb:

I still think she would have made a great sales model for Magenpan.

Big Sugar. First two release were fantastic. And live, they were even better. Gordie Johnson was terrific! Then Gordie cleaned house, dumping the other members and they hit a brick wall (AFAIC). Saw them live after the changes in personnel ... yuck!

Big Sugar.

Rockadanny : Johnson left Big Sugar, moved to Texas and formed another band called Grady ( with Chris Layton from Double Trouble ) which was like Big Sugar but heavier. It looks like Big Sugar is reforming ( with Gordie Johnson ) so you may soon get your wish. :D

D.D. - Awesome! They were such a talented, interesting (to me) band. I guess I must have seen Grady then, not a new Big Sugar (cannot recall - too many adult beverages ago). Wow, did not realize Chris Layton was in the band. I only realized how unappealing they were (to me), compared to Big Sugar. Thanks for the update.

Celtic Frost
They put out a kick-ass comeback album and then bust up again.  Hmph.

Akercocke
"Verdelet" is one of the best songs ever written.
I wonder if they recruited s@t@n himself to help them with the inspiration. ;)

I'm wondering why no one suggested ABBA. In addition, I my wishful thinking is Pink Floyd, Enigma and, and Spice Girls. (The last one is purely for nostalgic reasons)

Could you tell me which two releases those were? Amazon is amazingly unhelpful in this regard.
