One of the first was the Sound Storm Festival on April 24-26, 1970 in Poynette, Wisconsin. The lineup for the three day outdoor concert included: The Grateful Dead, Northern Comfort, Baby Huey and the Babysitters, Rotary Connection, Crow, The Bowery Boys, Illinois Speed Press, Wheezer Lockinger, Luther Allison, Mason Proffit, and others.

I haven't seen my face in any of the crowd photos but I was there, my buddy Phil confirms it. I don't remember it looking so gray outside, I remember everything was oh so colorful and sparkly.

I haven't seen my face in any of the crowd photos but I was there, my buddy Phil confirms it. I don't remember it looking so gray outside, I remember everything was oh so colorful and sparkly.

The first concert that I remember seeing was Andre Segovia in the early sixties. I was in grammar school, my parents took me and that got me started on guitar!

Allman Brothers Band freebie concert in Macon City Park, 69' or 70' I think, memory a little vague on the date (in a fog of marijuana smoke).

Best I can remember it would be The Band. 1968, Chicago Opera House. Amazing show, opened with dark house, Garth's organ intro for Chest Fever, spotlight on Garth, then stage lights up as the rest came in. Of many great shows I've been fortunate enough to see, still one of the best.

The Beatles (8/14/1966 at Cleveland Stadium). I was 12. The music was muffled and overall unlistenable through the screaming, etc where we were, basically, but the experience was amazing. The concert is unfortunately known for a 30 minute postponement while they removed an onrush of fans who broke through a security fence.

washington national symphony orchestra, fall 1964 at d.a.r. constitution hall; courtesy of lafayette elementary school field trip. don't ask me what the program was.

i saw a few more before i "graduated". first "rock" show was cat stephens at the kennedy center in the spring of 1971. that same day, in the same venue, i saw vladimir ashkenazy perform solo piano in an afternoon show.

I didn't even think of that! When I was in 3rd or 4th grade ('59 or '60?) we had an orchestra play in the school gym just up the road in Balmer. The sound of the instruments really left an impression on me, but the acoustics sure sucked.

Red Rider opening for REO Speedwagon 1983, one day after my 16th b-day, friends took me and paid.

Gary Richrath was ranked 3rd best guitarist by some popular guitar rag of the day, behind Ted Nugent and Eddie Van Halen. I was 10 ft. from the stage, I've never seen anyone sweat so hard as Gary did during one solo, it was rolling off the guy.

Great band, 1st heard them when I went to buy my weeky albums. Walked in and Bridge of! was playing. Asked who it was and said I'll buy it. They said it was their only copy and could I wait. I bought it off the TT. And told them to they need to get more copies SOON. Are friday night PARTY was one of the best for sound.

I was a mere child when I saw "little" Stevie Wonder at the Township Theater in Columbia, SC circa 1963. The intro group was unheard of at the time but we were all knocked out by their soon-to-be hit, "Baby Love" - The Supremes!
