Preamp to use with Khartago

I would welcome suggestions for a reasonably priced preamp to use with the stereo Khartago.

Would it be a problem for you if the preamp came with an annoying hum?

well if you don't have a lot of money (less than $700), and want something fairly clean; I'd look for a Conrad Johnson 10al or a 10B. They really are not bad sounding, and have more inputs than you'll probably ever use. Another to look at is the Quicksilver linstage. Similar in concept to the CJ, but think the CJ is slightly more transparent. Once in awhile you'll see a Candella in the $800 range. The Candella has more presence and bass than the other two, but lacks a tape loop with three inputs. Stay away from the Chinese junk!

This Mapletree would be really nice and also reasonable.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.  I got into Eico tubes last spring after having the khartago as my original goal.  After that diversion, I need to sell several pieces of vintage gear before I can afford to make a move so that will give me time to research your suggestions.  I never would have thought of a couple of them so I really appreciate the feedback.
