Need some prayers for my mom

I'm a Stratos / Tempest owner whose mom (Dorothy) is going to have two heart valve repairs attempted this coming Monday, April 5th. I am requesting that those so disposed please keep her in your prayers; recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is especially appreciated. I understand this may seem an unusual request to some. However, I fervently believe in the power of intercessory prayer, and the goodness in the hearts of Odyssey owners around the world.

In advance, may God bless you for your assistance!

Yes, I will pray for your mom.  It's a Christian's privilege and responsibility to support others in prayer.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Dear djbnh,

Our prayers are with you.  Remeber: "...and by His stripes we are healed."  The price was paid - even though we weren't worthy.  It is the free gift of God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  The Word of God is the substance of your hope.  Our faith in it alone is the cornerstone of His blessing and favor.

God bless you and your family in your time of need.

I work in Cardiac Surgery as a Open Heart Surgical Technologist. I pray for all my patients. Double valve procedures usually go well. I wonder about the combination valve procedure your mother is having. Is it an Aortic and Mitral Valve procedure or a Tricuspid and Mitral procedure? My prayers go out to your mother and my God guide the O.R. team and her through the operation.

I will pray that the hands of the surgeons are true, the minds of the nurses are diligent, and the anesthesiologist is irreproachable.  May the power of prayer be with you.

A blessed Easter Sunday to you all, and thank you so much for your prayers for my mom. You are in my prayers as well.

Mom had her heart valve surgery on Monday, April 5th. Due to her condition, the surgical team, during the operation, decided my mom could only tolerate having one of the valves (mitral) repaired. Tuesday was a good day, but she steadily went downhill from there, with pneumonia, artial fibrillation, and tachycardia setting in. She was put on Lasix and other meds including heavy sedation, a feeding tube, and a heart balloon pump to help her decreasing heart functions out. She had tons of fluid in her lungs, too. We were extrememly concerned for the rest of the week as her condition continued to deteriorate.

However, my dad and brother reported today my mom is doing much better this Easter Sunday, with no pneumonia present. She is lucid, off the sedatives, Lasix is cut back, tachycardia and artrial fibrillation gone. She's got a spelling board she can communicate with, her spirits are up, and she's showing some of that strong-willed spirit she usually has.

May God bless you all for your support, I can't begin to tell you what an asset your warm thoughts and your prayers are. Thanks for your comments, PMs, and e-mails. I'll post if and when she's discharged, it's still a day-to-day thing, but the surgeon is feeling a lot more comfortable currently about her chances, and all our spirits are improving. Thanks again and keep those prayers coming. talk about your Eastertime resurrections!

Also, my special "thank you" along to all of you goes to Klaus Bunge for allowing this post. I know Odyssey has made charitable efforts for other causes, but this, in my book, merits my own special prayers for Klaus.

I'm so happy to hear that your mom is fine.   Wonderful.

There is quite a bit of my heart in this thread now as well.  I don't want to hijack it, but  please let me elaborate a bit:

First off,  I'm not a religious person myself,  but I fanatically believe in decency and the good in people,  and that's how I raise my kids.  My 10 year old son Alex is an absolutely super good-hearted person,  of which I'm very proud of.  Actually,  he gos to a Christian school,  because that was his wish.

Last Sunday,  when I wrapped up the last day of the show in Montreal,  Sherrie called with horrific news:   Alex was in the ICU  in the hospital close to dying.  Needless to say that within 2 minutes I was in a cab to the airport,  getting the first plane home,   leaving the truck and the stuff in Montreal,  where some friends took car of it.  Getting to DC lat,  all planes gone,  sleeping the night on the floor in front of the terminal.  What a nightmare.  The good news was that Sherrie told me late at night that the blood transfusions Alex got. worked,  and he was out of immediate danger.  I came home Monday morning,  and of course stayed the next  5 days with him in his room.    It turned out that he caught a virus (Fifth desease)  that attacked his bone marital,  and the poor guy was nearly compleely out of air in his non-regenerated red blood cells.  What a nightmare.

At any rate,  he's back home,  since that virus thankfullywent as quickly as it came.  Still under quarantane until next weekend,  but home,  and all vital signs are back to normal.

Now, this of course is the worst nightmare of all parents,  and I don't wish this to anyboy.  However,  my thought here as to the original post is this:

Because of the close-knit nature of his school,  his teacher had over 100 families !!!  praying for my little one on Sunday night,  only hours after he went to the emergency room.   Whether or not there is a real outcome of prayers can be discussed to the nth degree.  All I know is that your mom and my son are well,  and that's a true and real situation to be happy about and to be grateful for as well.

All the best,

Klaus
