I will amend my statement.  You need to do the right system pairing in terms of technical compatibility but there is no philosophical right or wrong on different sounds you can get from different paths like tubes, ss, battery, MC, MM, MI, etc.  I am finding that there is no one solution.  If you want the best in one aspect, you have to give up on some other thing.

Lapsan, too bad you missed out on the Randall phonostage stage.
There are a lot of different stages local for you to try. If you want I could bring mine over, peter also has a slew.

THAT IS A STEAL!!!  And it's rare to even find a used one.  This is the same unit as I have.  It's an outstanding moving coil phono stage, many (including me) consider it the best moving coil phono stage without regard to cost.

Currently have:
Bryston Bp1.5 phono box and Kuzma Sogi S table/arm with a Dynavector 17D3. (the Bryston needs the Bryston powersupply, and I use the BP-26 so i have it,)
Second Set is an Audio Research Sp-15 (tubed phono section) and a Rega P5 with a Benz Glider.
Then i have (not in use) a Dual Golden One/Dynavector Ruby23, and an Audio Research PH-2 (solid state rare, no reviews, fine preamp all balanced)

I am currently just starting to get to know a JLTI phono stage.

I talked to Joe Rassmussen (the manufacturer), and had him modify mine marginally...

MM Load is now 500k Ohm - facilitating the use of loading plugs in the MM zone (10k to 100k ohm)

He also very kindly fitted an RIAA bypass switch - so the entire EQ filter section can be bypassed, leaving me with a very high quality pure gain stage. (which I can then combine with various Digital EQ filters to match various early records, or with Digital RIAA EQ)

So far it is working as expected - but I cannot make detailed sonic comments - it is very smooth and detailed, dynamics are much better than my previous stages.... more over the next few months as I get to know it.

Right now it is primarily doing working duty as a lab phono stage for measuring cartridge loadings in my effort to work out the optimum settings for about 20 cartridges....

bye for now
David

P.S. when I get down to comparing phono stages I will be comparing :
1) JLTI
2) Creek OBH18 with OBH2 upgrade PSU (MM only)
3) e-MU 1616m phono stage
4) Onkyo TX-SR876 AVR phono stage (MM Only)
