If it doesn't work the first time, will you stick with it?

Yes I have 3 total LPs all in the same boat. Trying only once would not give it a fair chance to
succeed or fail.............Bill

I don't have any idea how long it will take to dry  :dunno:

Dry for a few hours.
Extremely time consuming,
Did not rescue records I tried.
The Biz stuff is just as good.
IMHO YMMV et. al.

Use a mass card to spread (sorry my dear old departed Cousin Bobby)

I experimented with this myself during a fit of boredom. Wood glue is not (IMO) a very good product for this purpose in comparison to a couple of other cheap glues you can readily find. Elmer's washable school glue and Elmer's school gel glue both release with more ease, can be washed off if any residue remains, and don't harm the records in manner I can discern. Wood glue was much harder to remove. It takes overnight for a generous application to dry. I've tried glue resuscitation with about ten noisy albums. Noticeable noise reductions in three of them and no change in seven of them. Noise reductions were noted after trying to revive them with steam cleaning and record vacuuming with my Nitty Gritty. My take is that at $1.69 a bottle (good for cleaning at least a dozen sides if not more) glue cleaning is worth trying if you've got a record you like that you want to try all last resorts on to de-noise.

Well first off I had the glue to thin and had a bear of a time removing it.
I then cleaned it on my VPI 16.5. I couldn't hear any diff. the loud pops
are still there. After Orthobiz and Photon46's comments I'll guess this is
where it ends for me. I'm home today and boredom was the word of the
day...................Bill

While I've never attempted wood glue, years ago a friend and I tried Brillo and that was a definite no go.

Try 000 steel wool.  It'll smooth any surface like glass.

Usually if you want to make a copy of a record you'd use cassette tape, or digitally record it, but I guess this is more of a purist approach.

Maybe some day (soon) an inventor will come out with a product that really does this.

This thread jars my memory of me working in a CD factory a long time ago... we used this stuff called Aquapel to coat & protect the stampers for storage. I bet it would be perfect for vinyl. Once it dried, it generally peeled of in one large piece. It was applied on a spinning wheel, I think an old crappy plastic deck w/ 78rpm would do the trick.

lol....No, not really.  I loaned it to my father in law.....my brother in law ran off with it.  Topeka I believe.   has one of those AT safety raisers on it.  Would like to have that part back.

There is a commercial product on the market that's been well reviewed at least once. It's what got me experimenting with the Elmer's water soluble gel glue, as it looks awfully similar.
