I experimented with this myself during a fit of boredom. Wood glue is not (IMO) a very good product for this purpose in comparison to a couple of other cheap glues you can readily find. Elmer's washable school glue and Elmer's school gel glue both release with more ease, can be washed off if any residue remains, and don't harm the records in manner I can discern. Wood glue was much harder to remove. It takes overnight for a generous application to dry. I've tried glue resuscitation with about ten noisy albums. Noticeable noise reductions in three of them and no change in seven of them. Noise reductions were noted after trying to revive them with steam cleaning and record vacuuming with my Nitty Gritty. My take is that at $1.69 a bottle (good for cleaning at least a dozen sides if not more) glue cleaning is worth trying if you've got a record you like that you want to try all last resorts on to de-noise.
