Next Evolution of the SST2 Amps

Hello James,

Just wondered how long before another redesign of the SST2 series?  And how long this iteration will be around before more serious changes are made to the line?  I know it's a tough question and if you can't answer fully i understand?

Hi Dave,

Generally if I look over the past 40 years the timeline on new technology for Bryston worth acting on from a performance standpoint runs between about 5-7 years in duration.

Nothing new on the board for the moment but we are always looking and listening :)

Which brings to mind that old idea about the smaller mono blocks (1/2 a 4b please) Any talk about this yet James.......... :Thanks for listening. :bowdown:

James,

How about an integrated amp with the preamplifier section of the BP16, with a phono stage. DAC section with the scaled down ability of the BDA - 2 coax, 2 optical, 1 usb, and amp section of a 4B?

You would surely see Mr. Tanner personally buy you a graphic eq before you see a tone control on a Bryston.

 Yay !!! I at least want a chance to drone on & on about my "cutting edge 7BSST2's" for a while before I have to change gears and start droning on & on about my " classic 7BSST2's ". :inlove:

Tone controls.. I saw the words on this post... Whoo Hoo!!
Hey i TOLD Bryston how to make a tone control setup for the BP-26.  A separate box that plugs into the BP-26 power supply, with tone controls, three: high, mid, low, with a 'shelving' switch for the top and bottom, a 'tone' switch with steps for low level listening eq adjustment, a separate bass eq knob. Even a warmth switch for tube like 'bloom'
The eq box to plug into the tape loop
I am drooling at a two grand EQ box that matches the BP-26 lineup. And would buy one.
So James... If you need a beta tester for this.. I volunteer.

Bryston must have had some sort of discussion about tone controls then, for James to be so certain.
Makes me want to cry. (hard to say if I want to cry tears of joy or sadness maybe both..)
Happy that they thought about it enough to come to such a firm decision, and sad 'cuz the decision was NO!
That's ok.. I love my Bryston stuff anyway....
(I have recommended a Bryston amp or preamp many times since i got one myself)
But: could i ask, James was it more: that no market exists? or that a tone control just is too difficult to implement (within a reasonable cost) that would meet a Bryston standard?

The funny part is that the most common tone control circuit is known as a "James stack".

Maybe James is feeling shy about it or somehting....

Room tuning is the best tone control there is IMO.

Followed by speakers.  Nothing butchers the sound like speakers do.
