Hard to believe the 50 greatest Rock guitar riffs don't include Zeppelin, Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc.? I guess we should forget about that 'old' stuff, huh? I always felt that Blackmore's riff to "Smoke On the Water" was akin to Beethoven's fifth in terms of being instantly recognizable.
I don't aree with the order, and felt some stuff should be there and others stuff shouldn't. So does everyone. To me, these lists are nothing more than a way to look into stuff I haven't heard or overlooked.
Not to sound like a jerk, but did you read the list?17 - Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple4 - Heartbreaker - Led Zeppelin3 - Iron Man - Black SabbathI don't aree with the order, and felt some stuff should be there and others stuff shouldn't. What about Slash in November Rain??
Speaking of Alvin Lee and Ten Years After.....Two excellent examples of "riff" based tunes....Good Morning Little School Girl....Love Like A Man.....I use to play both those tunes....way back when.....
