If you didn't like the Teflon cap, you might try one of the paper in oil caps, such as Ampohm.  Those are tonally aligned with your sound preferences

Good point.  The Ampohms work well w/ the Sonicaps.  Can also try Vitamin Q's as well, since those would also be up your alley sonically.

System tuning! Good job, always hit and miss.  :thumb:
It's part of the fun for me.   :eyebrows:   I love learning things.

Do this without changing my DAC first?

Remind me to leave the crossovers outside the enclosure next time I make some speakers  :duh:...

OK.

Django, leave the crossovers outside the speakers next time.

It took me a long time to figure that one out, too.

Stephan,

I harped on that with Sikiing Ninja back when there was a forum not to be named.  I makes it so much easier if you want to play.

As mentioned, every value, every type of cap is going to have it's own synergistic characteristic with whatever device or circuit it's used in.  And what the owner wants to hear out of it.  There is no set rule or guide.

I've just always been surprised that there is not more trading of caps on the sites from people that play.

These platinums are on their way to me, going to go into an Onix Strata Mini along with sonicap Gen I cap replacements.
We will see how I like them, I haven't used platinums before either.

Yeah, why is that? I've been wondering about that. I would love to try out different caps and I know some of you guys have big stashes like me. Maybe we can get a swap thing going. Just seems a waste to shell out huge dough for a cap when you don't know what it will do for you and there's someone out there with same cap or close sitting in a drawer. The circuit or crossover doesn't care if it's new, used, scuffed or polka-dotted. I have 1uf Ampohm Aluminum PIO for instance just sitting around...

I was looking for a used PIO just last month. Posted my request but nobody spoke up and I had to buy it new. I think a "used caps for sale or trade" sticky in the trading post would be a great idea.

Good. Got quite burnt out after building that mega version of my pre. I will probably get the bug again soon because I am building my Peter Millet low-mu preamp soon that I bought all the parts for almost 2 years ago.

I love the idea of a trade/sell, I have caps that didn't tickle me a bit but others love and would love to trade for stuff I may love.

Got a ton of power caps too.  :D

I hear that playing frisbee golf in the nude can take a toll as well :o...  I hope to see your next build in the lab...

BTW your gear is now powering some GR Research N3s for my listening pleasure.

These days short of showering anything done in the nude takes its toll.  :?
