I have a pair of Mini Tower IIa speakers that have been stored in the closet since 2003. All the rubber/foam surrounds appear to be fine, but the cabinets are bit damaged.
The cabinets were originally damaged in a move, along with the grills. I had set aside for a "repair/restoration" project, but never got around to them.
They have been "rediscovered" recently as I am preparing for another move, so I have been tinkering with the idea of harvesting the speakers and crossovers for a custom project.

My initial design ideas are leaning towards something slim, like the RM30s. My questions are as follows:
1) Should I abandon this and just attempt to repair the existing cabinets and grills?
2) If I harvest the speakers, where can I find specs for them so that I can design a proper cabinet?
3) If I harvest the speakers, is there a easy-to-use program that I can use to aid in the cabinet design?
The extent of damage includes crushed corner on the cabinet, broken binding posts, cracked bases, and broken grills.

Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated!
