Question About an Amp Chassis
« on: 14 Dec 2010, 11:19 pm »
I just bought a used ClassD Audio amp that was installed into a jtwrace chassis. The left channel input and output are on the right side of the chassis (looking from the amp front) and the right is on the left side. Does this seem odd to anyone else? Jason, a man of few words, told me that not all systems are laid out in the traditional left is left/right is right manner.

Please show me another amplifier that has inputs and speaker outputs that are on opposite sides of the back panel that are reversed, causing cables to cross to get to where they need to go.

What does it matter? Using the right channel as left or the left channel as right makes NO difference. Stereo is 2 channels. As long as you get the right info to the correct speaker, who gives a rats? Nothing needs to cross.

Actually I do.  It's a silkscreen legend layout error.

It's truly not a big deal with me. I just thought it was unusual. Poseidon, the top photo is what my amp looks like.

So what if I cross the lines? I don't want to have to keep thinking how left is really right, etc.

There is no problem in crossing lines.  I was just agreeing with you that it is indeed odd (and illogical).

It's like what you said. No-Big-Deal. Cross them, you'll be fine, try to avoid your power cord if you can.
