I built this amp to try out the SDS-254 amp with the low profile 300VA power supply. It works great, very quiet, no issues at all. I used the remote source select/volume control from Johnnie at DIYClub.biz. It uses an Alps black pot. The picture is an earlier incarnation with the CDA-254 amp in the same case. The case is from an old Chinese preamp and the tube in the front window has power to it's heater, so it lights up.

It is home built and as such looks OK, but is not a piece of audio jewelry. The balance and tone controls do not function and are glued in position. The gain controls are located inside and you can use them to set gain and balance. The volume control knob does not go flush with the others as I did not want to cut the shaft on the pot. It doesn't look bad, though and you can easily do this. The remote sensor is in the hole for the tone bypass switch. It works well and has excellent range and angle of usage.
I use very high quality gold plated isolated RCA's from Antique Electronic Supply. The speaker terminals are fairly cheap banana sockets I had lying around.
This is a great amp. I have too many projects on the go and it needs to go. It has 4 sets of inputs. I did not wire up the input selection LED's, but this can be easily accomplished with a little drilling. I'll even throw in some LED's. There are more relays than inputs, so you could always add an input or two (up to 6 total).
You can also easily upgrade the caps in the power supply for more punch at high volume levels.
Feel free to ask questions. I am looking for $295 plus shipping and I only take Paypal. This is an absolute bargain. I will guarantee that it does not arrive DOA. 125 watts per side into 8 ohms and 250 watts per side into 4 ohms. Input impedance is 50K. It drives my Maggies with ease.
I'll attach a current picture when I have a minute. Oh, and the case does have a top.
