So I've been listening to Blue Train, and falling in love with trumpeter Lee Morgan's work on it.What other Lee Morgan work do folks like?
Folks often recommend Cornbread and Sidewinder, but for me I think Search For The New Land is a classic. Especially the title cut, Search For The New Land ... 15 minutes of bliss. I love tunes that take you on a trip, and this one is a wonderful journey. Supported by Wayne Shorter, Grant Green, and Herbie Hancock ... wow!
And Curtis Fuller is great on Blue Train also.
I may just follow Tyson's lead in the Classical circle and put up a list of selections for Jazz beginners as a sticky, and let the discussion begin
The Sidewinder is good too. And Curtis Fuller is great on Blue Train also. Why no jazz circle? If you start one I'll post some hard bop selections for sure.
