Visit VSA at RMAF
« on: 16 Oct 2010, 11:50 am »
Hello all,

Here is a short movie from the first showday in Denver.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6MahCRW12M

It was really 'crowdy' in the VSA rooms.
Very nice music, lots of enthusiast reactions.

Enjoy.

The VSA team, Albert, Damon, Eric, dr. Glenn, Greg, Martin, Ewing and Cor.

Hey, that's some of us in that there video......!!  People asked me before to determine if the VR35 was really different than the VR33 -- the short answer is yes, with all the obvious caveats about rooms and matching equipment.  Met a couple of circle members but looking forward to the dinner tonight - and Cor has been 'advised' not to video us when the evening kicks in but somehow I have reservations :)  Also got to meet John Ulrick of Spectron in the VR35 room, super nice guy too. Only have my old iPhone so pics are useless but it's fun so far.

No wonder, sent email and no response.
Probably should have someone run the ranch.

Hello all,

Second day is done, very nice audience lot of interested reactions.

In room 8032 the big tube amplifier was voted BEST TUBE AMPLIFIER OF THE SHOW by the Stereomojo team.

I will put some pictures online by tomorrow since I  left my camera connection in the demo room.

Up to the third and last show day and see who wins the raffle. The box is already filled with tickets.

Feel welcome.

Cor

Well at least there's one picture even though at first glance, I thought Albert was using a Coke machine as a diffuser

Cor was the unofficial photographer and I think he'll post a few when he gets back home - he came a long way so give him a few days. Btw - those racks in the pic above are made by one of our members and seem to offer real value -- over to you Martin!

OK Gavin,

After a 'heavy weekend' here are some pictures.

We all enjoyed our stay at the RMAF in Denver very much.

The 509 room with the VR 33 and a lot of 'gear' our good friend Dr. Glenn took to drive the VR 33 at very high level. As a source there were a laptop with high res. tracks and a PS Audio HRX player. Also CD's were playing nice and realistic music.

Entree of the MR VSA KR EERA room surprising with the real music.

In the 8032 room we designed a High End Virtual Reality Music System by "Simplicity".
Just a EERA Tentation CD Player, a Kronzilla SXI mk II and the brand new VR 35 Export Deluxe connected by VSA Master Cables.
The result was very impresive and was voted many times as Best Sound by the audience.

Some more to explore:

The Kronzilla SXI mk II was voted "Best Amplifier" of the show by Stereomojo and will be reviewed soon.

The room was crowded all day and we received nice compliments from all.

Just to keep it simpel.

Hi all,

Just received a link to the SoundStage Coverage.

http://www.soundstagenetwork.com/index.php?option=com_igallery&view=gallery&id=20&Itemid=202

Little note: The Kronzilla SXI mk II is priced $ 16k in stead of the written $ 60k.
Both numbers 'sound the same' but a huge difference.

Have fun.

I've read one post regarding the VR-35 sounding better then the VR-33. Did anyone listen to the same recordings on both speakers and can you describe the differences heard? Chris

Very nice Cor, it was great to meet you.

Wayne

Chatting with me in the vestibule of room 8032.  :)

I borrowed a camera from a friend after leaving mine at home but it was stolen out of the hotel room on Sunday night.  Unfortunately most of my pictures, including those I took of my racks in Von Schweikert room 509 and Fritzspeakers room 569, were still in the camera.

We'll have to rely upon Cor's and other's...

Here are the few I have taken on Friday...

Check out the size of those tubes!  :green:

This picture gives you a better idea of the actual size relationship.  Still pretty darned big.

I've read one post regarding the VR-35 sounding better then the VR-33. Did anyone listen to the same recordings on both speakers and can you describe the differences heard? Chris

The VR-33's were driven Friday and Saturday by a $3,500 pair of Channel Islands 200 watt (8 ohm) D-200 MK II Class D monoblocks and on Sunday by a $4,900 pair of Hephaestus Audio 600 watt (8 ohm) HMA-1000 Class D monoblocks.

The VR-35's were driven by the $16,000 Kronzilla SXI MK II 50 watt (8 ohm) SET integrated amplifier.

With those differences understood here is my impression.

I listened to Cor's wonderful demo CD and several of my favorite tracks I brought on both systems.  They both sounded very good.  If I could afford both I would easily plunk down the extra $5,245 for the VR-35’s... and here's why...

The VR-35's just sounded convincingly realistic.  I was sitting in the vestibule out of sight of the system while Cor was playing a track that was a live recording of a small ensemble that began with a lone piano.  I could have sworn I was listening to a real baby grand sitting just around the corner.  Later on a beautifully melodic orchestral piece and sitting in the sweet spot I could see the orchestra spread out in front of me.  I could place each instrument on the stage; the imaging was startlingly real.

I found on every recording the VR-35’s had a larger soundstage and sharper imaging, slightly more powerful bass, and more air around the instruments and in the vocals.  They are utterly amazing and blew away speakers at 5 times the price.

I cannot afford VR-35’s but will be doing everything I can to obtain a pair of VR-33’s.  They were easily the second best speakers I heard at the show especially when you consider price.  I thought the $38,000 a pair YG Acoustics Kipod (in the Kubala Sosna room), the $44,000 a pair Alfred & Partners Estelon XA, and the $49,995 Focal Maestro Utopia III also all sounded very, very good. (They better at those prices!)

Albert is simply amazing.
