I just ordered and Archos 7 to control my mpd music server.  Does anyone have any experience with this unit?

Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
How has that gone for you? I'm trying to figure out a solution as to how to have a remote control for my W7 netbook that runs my Foobar/external HDD combo feeding a DAC. The Archos 7 looks very interesting....

I was thinking one of the wi-fi equipped e-book readers, running android, would work well.  I might ask for one for Christmas.

I received the Archos and within a day decided to return it.  The touch screen is not in the same league with the Apple solution and the WiFi reception was poor.  I liked the size but that was about it.  I decided to pick up an iPod Touch and use mPod.  Although I had reservations about being able to pick items on the smaller screen I found that I adapted very quickly.  The touch with mPod is head and shoulders better than the Android solution IMHO.

Thanks for the info Ed, much appreciated.
From what I could see on the website, mPOD is a player is it not? I guess that would then preclude using Foobar?

I seem to be having a problem getting this response to post, lets try again:

mPod is a remote client for MPD (music player daemon).  I am currently running MPD on a silent fanless linux based computer as described in nyc-paramedic's thread seen here ( link removed because it was preventing me from posting).  BTW, I am running FLAC files.
