I like all reds except Zinfandel. Southern Rhone has been on a run of good vintages this century except the dreadful '02. My "house wine" is Pierre Usseglio. I have finished off the '05s and now getting into the '07s. There is always a good bottle of red to go with any dish in my house. I often use bright, floral Oregon Pinot Noirs instead of whites in most cases where white is called for.

Last bottle drunk: 2007 Vellum which is reviewed
here. It's Left Bank composition with 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot. It doesn't compare with the best Saint-Juliens as it's more fruit forward and not as complex, but it's really nicely drinking right now with velvety tannins with just a bit of astringency. It will probably drink better in a few years but I am enjoying it now, especially since I got a deal on a case where I paid only half of what it sells today.
