Just put up some of this in the cellar, what wines do others like?

My favorite that I go back to and back to is the Marquis de Murietta Castillo Ygay.

I like all reds except Zinfandel.  Southern Rhone has been on a run of good vintages this century except the dreadful '02.  My "house wine" is Pierre Usseglio.  I have finished off the '05s and now getting into the '07s. There is always a good bottle of red to go with any dish in my house.  I often use bright, floral Oregon Pinot Noirs instead of whites in most cases where white is called for.   :wine:

Last bottle drunk:  2007 Vellum which is reviewed here.  It's Left Bank composition with 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot.  It doesn't compare with the best Saint-Juliens as it's more fruit forward and not as complex, but it's really nicely drinking right now with velvety tannins with just a bit of astringency.  It will probably drink better in a few years but I am enjoying it now, especially since I got a deal on a case where I paid only half of what it sells today.  :thumb:

A very good wine. I have been to the region that produces the wine three times. Small area just north of Avignon. It is a great side trip to visit the numerous wineries and have tastings.

Hugh - if you mean tell about the specific wine 'Chante Cigale', I only bought a few bottles yesterday while stocking up the cellar for Winter.  I haven't tasted this actual bottling, but plan to this weekend. I bought it on recommendation of the salesman.

I've been drinking CDP in general for 8 years, have yet to be disappointed by one.

I'll gladly share my thoughts after I sober up.  :thumb:

It is a great region. You can visit the Papal Palace and Pont Du Gard. Gordes in Luberon is a great place to stay and take in the entire region. Great food and wine. Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a great antique place if your into that

Last time I checked Caymus and Dominus were a a bit more than 'just over $40'... maybe you can sort me out?

I love CdP and also it's neighbours Gigondas and Vacqueyras when i want something dark and brooding.. i typically only drink these during the winter months.

Never had the Marquis but would love to try!
