Depends WAY too much on my mood of the day and unfair for me to name 3.  I at least wanted to compliment Zybar on having Phish on his list though.  Most ridiculously talented group of guys I've ever laid ears on.  :thumb:

I agree that my mood plays a big role in determining what I listen to.  Of course, that's why I keep adding to my 6000+ cd collection.  :-)

I picked my top three based on what I would want to hear if that was all I could listen to.

If I really had a gun to my head, it probably would be the Grateful Dead sneaking in ahead of Dave Matthews due to their extensive live collection and showmanship.

That's an impossible question for me to answer.  I could think about 40 or 50 bands just off the top of my head that I love.  The only definitive answer is numero uno.  But the other top two could change from week to week.  So, my answer this week is:

1. Rilo Kiley
2. Roxy Music
3. Luna, Beatles, Neil Young/Crazy Horse, Yes, Bettie Serveert, The Roches, and Jessie Colin Young/Youngbloods (tie)

Thanks for posting this thread, it's an interesting scratch of the head question.

Would of helped  to narrow it, if it was 3 fav live bands that we have seen. That would be easy:

Grateful Dead
Widespread Panic (WSP played at my frat house at UGA(circa 1989)
Phish

Studio , too tough to pick, like someone said too mood dependent, esp when you have more music then you can listen too.

If I could only listen to three bands for the rest of my days I guess they would be:

Wilco
Radiohead
Pink Floyd

Well, The Clash too. And Ben Harper with all his different bands. Oh, and...
