1. Radiohead
2. The Presets
3. Rolling Stones

This changes so much and so often I feel like I am lying!

In the past:

1. Led Zepplein
2. The Beatles
3. The Rolling Stones

In the 90s:

1. Nirvana
2. Soundgarden
3. The Screaming Trees

I could go on and on with a funk list, jazz list, blues list and classical list (with many breakdowns from there)!

3. The Screaming Trees

That's the first time I have read of anyone else mentioning the Screaming Trees.  I only have the one album (Sweet Oblivion) but I love Dollar Bill and Shadow of the Season.

That's just too tough. I'd probably would say The Pretenders because of Chrissie Hynde but......she's really "the band"

1.Beatles
2.The Replacements
3.Crowded House

This is an impossible task.

If I listed;

Genesis
King Crimson
PFM

But how could I leave off?;

Return to Forever
Gentle Giant
Deus Ex Machina
After Crying
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Yes
Magma
Universe Zero
Echolyn
Banco

And I didn't even get to any progressive metal!

My top 3 could change every day.

Sorry, I'm just aware of way too many incredible bands to narrow them down to only 3.

Pink Floyd
Joe Henry
The Church

In the past Springsteen would have been top of the list, he could do no wrong - well until he went solo.

a1p1,
I should have also mentioned this was 30 years ago, when I was living first in Davenport, and then Iowa City, hoping my uncle, who was professor of music, could get me into the school.
Iowa City itself has some great bars, wouldn't you say?
Used to go to that local rock quarry near Iowa City, float away that summer heat, and hit some of the bars near the university.
I think most of them have morphed into new ones.  30 years ago? Blue Magoo's, Fox's Bar, and Gabe & Walker's, named after two characters in a Falstaff beer campaign.  I interviewed Mose Allison at that bar.
My uncle just passed away there, Dr. Richard Hervig.  Great man, though I could never warm up to his atonal compositions.

Yes! Love them all - have you been into any Lanegan projects? (Queens of the Stone Ages - personal favorite band right there / Twilight Singers / Gutter Twins)

Wow, this is really tough but I could be happy listening to:
The Beatles
U2
The Moody Blues

for the rest of my life; but then I would miss Neil Young, The String Cheese Incident, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

What's a girl to do :dunno:

I think you should start at the beginning, but The Single Factor is really good (guest vocalist is Chris Rainbow from Alan Parsons), but Breathless, Moon Madness or Rain Dances would be all good choices.

There are also some great CDs that are not on vinyl: Raja, A Nod and a Wink, Harbor of Tears and The Coming of Age.

Too hard to narrow down, but here are today's choices:

Los Lobos
The Yardbirds
Digital Underground

Probably will have a different choice tomorrow.

1. Radiohead (no hesitation on this one)
2. NIN
3. Hmmm this one is difficult, so many had to be eliminated... but I will go with Rusted Root.

Funny thing... I haven't listened to any of them in a few days. And some in weeks. BUT the reason I have them on my list is that these are the bands that I always come back to. There are many that come and go as my current obsessions, but these are the ones for whom my love never fades... the albums always close at hand. I can listen to them at any time and in any mood.

Although admittedly, the list likely would be different at any given moment. Except for Radiohead.
