4B sst2 1v/2v
« on: 13 Aug 2010, 02:17 am »
Hi
I noticed that my new sst2 no longer has 1v/2v switches instead its 23dB/29dB. I think its the same thing or is there a difference, not mere label changes?

cheers

Same thing.  Label change.

According to the owners manual the 1V setting provides 29db gain and the 2V setting provides a gain of 23db.  So it looks like it is just a label change and I think it is a better description of the switch option.

My ST is set for unbalanced, which setting corresponds to that on the SST/2?

Okay, it appears that I had my SST2 set at 2 volts instead of 1. :duh: My other amps were set at 1 volt. I may switch the SST2 back to 1 as I got use to having the surrounds 6 db louder than the fronts.

This also seems to be the reason I was getting slightly boomy bass in Pure Direct 2 channel stereo mode.

Having said that, I still prefer MC stereo with enhancer over Pure Direct 2 channel. The bass is more articulate & highs marginally more linear. 8)
