Mainly for James Tanner:
I was reading all the old Bryston Circle posts here, and ran across the fact that the balanced output of the BP-26 is much higher than the unbalanced output.
IF I used the unbalanced output, would I (without having to send in my amp for pro model attenuator) be able to have less gain from BP-26, and thus use more of the volume control range?
I would just try it, BUT my current pre to amp distance is 20 ft, and I only have a balanced cable that long.
I have no problem with the loss of balanced common mode noise rejection IF I went to a non-balanced cable.
(In fact i would probably just swap connectors on the cable I now use (Kimber Hero)
So I am just wondering?
(I am waffling on sending in my 4B-SST2 for the attenuation thing just because of the old warning:"If it ain't broke, don't FIX it"
Thanks!
