I made the disturbing discovery that the FST tweeter ribbons in my RM-30's had mysteriously been mashed in following a gathering of young kids at my house.
It's my understanding that the ribbons can be replaced without replacing the entire tweeter. I'm wondering if anyone has experience replacing the ribbons, and if so-- please share any do's and don'ts.
Mine are the de-horned version-- I gather these are derived from the Aurum Cantus G2Si's? If so, Parts Express has a replacement ribbon, part#274-401. The only complaint the reviewers had is that the replacement comes with no instructions, so I'm wondering if this is a very delicate operation?
Any help is much appreciated-- my tweeterless RM-30's sound just a tad lifeless!

Hi,
Yes, Parts Express sent me replacement ribbons, p/n 276-403 for the RM2 G2's, nicely crushed flat with bubblewrap into the bottom of a plastic container - twice!

I eventually successfully bought from Creativesound in Canada tel 1 604 504 3954.  They were also able to supply metal faceplates for the Aurum Canti, with a protective mesh (no more little fingers), to replace the black tar stickers.

Yes, just unstick then unscrew bits till the old ribbon is removed, then replace.  No need to unsolder the drive unit leads.  Try to avoid the (nicely corrugated) ribbon rubbing the sides of the slot.

Very cool Richard-- thanks for the link to the instructions.
Creativesound is out of the ribbons, however they did say they'd send tweeter faceplates for the cost of postage. They suggested Parts Express for the ribbon.
I'll check with E-speakers first, then go with Parts Express if I have to.
