Yes integrating the sub can be a pain, I think that it's better to set the sub's crossover quite low and leave a "gap". You'll get the "thump" without the integration issues (addition/canceling at frequencies near crossover).

As for the drivers, the sound of a 14" can be quite unique, so pray that JBL keeps same quality level and lowers the price  :icon_twisted::

Nah, I'm pretty much done with JBL.

Why not build your own? For FAR less money you can have a speaker system which will outperform the JBLs easily.

That's not a bad idea. I'd have to have someone else build the cabinets.

Act now and buy the JBL 1400 Array's and you get your choice of a Box of Fortune Cookie's or 6 cans of Refried beans ........depending on the month/country that JBL picks to make their speakers in   :thumb:

Enlighten us. Pics welcome.

Nap.

It's really not that hard. All it takes is a good plan (which I don't know how to attach, apparently I can only post images), a handful of tools, and LOTS of time and patience.

Lots more can be found on this site (the interesting bits start at about page 13) (and it's all in dutch, so it'll be just looking for pictures for most of you). If you are seriously interested i can email you the plans, including filter and such.

So you don't mind that the Chinese own KEF, you just don't want them to make the speakers there?

What am I looking at for the front baffle?  The multi-strip look of the baffle is reminiscent of glued-up butcher block hardwood.  Beautiful execution on the woodworking.  It looks like quarter-sawn oak?

I owned the XQ40`s(Made in China),but i would LOVE for all of KEF to be Made in England, instead of just their Reference being Made in England.

Yup, it is. The entire cabinet (outter panels) is made of 1 inch oak. The panels actually are kitchen counter material. This is guaranteed not to split and very hard.

This actually is one of the intermediate designs, not the final one. That is further down the line, but only as a download, and I think one needs to be logged in to have access for that. But since it is my design...
