Looks nice!

Serious question: is that enough ventilation for all that Bryston gear? Would he have to only run it with the glass door open, or would it be safe to use with the glass door closed?

I'd like them to swap that monster conditioner with a Torus and see what they think.

I'm guessing the 3BSST2 was chosen over the 7BSST2 for a cost savings of ~ $4K, which of course is not a small amount of money.

But in the context of a very expensive home theatre, if they should decide to change speakers at some point, they would be limited to choosing 8 ohm models only.

Also on the Bryston website the specifications say "30,000 MFD per channel" for both amplifiers.  Does this mean the 7BSST2 would only have 30,000 MFD but the 3BSST2 bridged would have 60,000 MFD?

What would be the sonic difference between the 3BSST2 bridged versus the mono 7BBST2 besides the obvious difference of 400W versus 600W?

Hi Steve,

The amplifier 'sees' 1/2 the impedance in mono so it is not a good idea for speakers rated below 4 ohms to use a 3B in bridged mode as it would start to current limit.  The subwoofer though has what we call a very easy 'duty cycle' so a bridged 3B is no issue at all.

I think the MDF figures must be incorrect - I will check.

Hi Watson,

Generally a single rack space (1 3/4 inches) is adequate between the amps but a lot will have to do with the stand.  If it has an open back then no issue - if not the amps could get hot under very heavy loads.

I owned both (at the same time). Well lets just say the Monster cable was boxed and stored.... hehe

Yep, I unboxed it! I know the Torus is probably better than the AVS 2000, but is it 10 X better, Werd?

Hi Mag

don't read to far into that comment. The AVS 2000 is a great starting point and takes you into the same ball park as the Torus. Having said that the Torus is better (considerably). They both are about the same price new.
