Fuse for Cornet2
« on: 26 May 2010, 05:44 pm »
I recently purchased a hi-fi tuning fuse for my amplifier, and it wasn't until I received it in the mail that I realized that I ordered it with the wrong Amp rating (1.6A instead of 6.3A).  That was stupid!  Then I thought I'd check to see what fuse the Cornet was using and looks like it's a 1A fuse.

Is 1A close enough to 1.6A or am I out of luck?

Thanks,
Scott

Just my opinion, but I would say close enough.  And use the 1.6.  If there was a short, it would blow.

I tried another fuse that was a different construction 1 amp awhile back and it actually sounded better.  But it was apparently a "fast blow" variety and it blew when turning on the Cornet sometimes (probably related to the location on the AC cycle when I turned it on).  Eventually blew all of them and went back to the specified fuse.  Almost bought some 2 amp versions.

So your fuse may actually sound better than stock.

Poty - yes, hard to believe a fuse could make a difference in the sound.  I have no ideal why and this kind of stuff can just drive you nuts.

Should be fine.  I normally use a slo-blo type to handle the inrush current of the heater supply capacitors.
