Just a heads up for an apparenlty good deal on a preowned Rega Planar 25 w/ RB600 arm and Rega Elys cartridge for $775 at EchoAudio (echohifi.com).  Fwiw, I recall someone thinking this P25 model is the first significant audible model upgrade from the P3.
YMMV.

Great guy, and really fine prices a lot of the time.  I think they even do a check of all items before they leave there.  Heck, they would probably mount, align and balance a cartridge they stock and ship complete if at all possible with the Rega.

Unfortunately, I think he stocks Grado cartridges and Rega's often hum on them due to use of unshielded motors on their TT's  :(

That's really tempting!

I think I'm going to slow down and see if I can learn how to properly setup what I have.

drphoto,

If you hang in there a little - with our collective help and time spent twiddling on your end - I think you're gonna' have that 'ah-ha' moment in vinyl coming :thumb:

Personally, I think you may not reach it with the current deck you have...but, you may get close enough to see the light in the tunnel and see that the effort could be worthwhile.

Vinyl is a superior/enjoyable/more natural way of listening to music...but many fall by the wayside mired in the details of setting it up :(

Hang in there - seriously us vinylphools ain't crazee - it is worth the efforts :)

John, I appreciate your help, along with everyone else here.

I just think I need to slow down a bit and study the setup guide. Even if the Thorens is basically crap, I'll at least learn something.

Great attitude! The more you learn, the better your set-up will be, the better the music will sound.

Hang in there.

The better it sounds, the better it feels.  A quote from Duke.
