Ok, thanks for answering my question. If I could afford a 14B, I would. Damnit.

Tell you what Vegas. The lotto Max up here is at $50 million. If win that you will be into some serious gear. But thats a big IF......

werd didn't say that, you did. Unless he means the 14B is superior to even the 7B.

Whatever he has is superior to everything else. Did you not figure it by now.....

Nap.

Does this apply to the 7BSST2 also?

Hi Chris,

The Torus style transformers are used internally on the 7B's, 14B's and 28B's.  The Torus technology only applies to very large amplifiers that draw huge amounts of current on transients.

Now that my Kefs are a little(but not fully) broken in yet ............here is my quick personal review thus far on the Kef Reference 207-2`s.I have been enjoying them deeply everyday........They are by far the best speaker i have ever owned.First of all.....the "Soundstage"....amazing....they have a HUGE Soundstage....much more so then my previous KEF XQ 40's...............where the XQ 40's lacked in the very fine details of a recording....the 207/2s grapple every subtle nuance the recording has to offer....they are a very revealing speaker....the old cliche of "I am hearing things in the recording i have never heard before......well its actually TRUE with the KEF Reference 207/2's.
They are 91DB@8 Ohms(efficent),but they do crave at least 250 Watts of high current.......if one has more....then thats even better(My Bryston 4BSST2 has 330 Watts)......i may experment with Bi-Amping another 4BSST2 and see what transpires.
Now the Midrange..........very,very open and transparent........i was expecting the midrange to be very ``warm`,but this is not the case in as much as i was expecting.
On Diana Kralls album ``The Girl in the Other Room`` the song Departure Bay has a melody that thru the 207``2s puts her dead center in my listening room......i can hear her breathing so open-clear....inhale-exhale....its so involving.I adore the midrange
on these Reference speakers.
The Bass is acurate.......very fast(not thick).....dynamic and you never got the feeling that the recording is being to closely milked on the 207-2s.
These speakers certainly benifit from Bi-Wiring and then use jumpers for the upper Treble connection or Tri-wire if you wish.........But remember they are NOT even broken in yet and i have also ordered Acoustic Zen Absolute Shotgun speaker wire for them..........the bass control will be even more amazing.
With a speaker of this level......you really have to support the components downstream(high end in every area) and indeed you will pull the best out of the Reference Kefs....the speakers demand it.
In closing i will easily say........as good as the KEF XQ series that i owned was.....the KEF Reference 207-2s take the enjoyment of music to another much higher Dimension then i have ever experienced.

I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS! :drums:

Very nice!

I have the 205/2's and was struck by the same wide sound stage.  When I was auditioning speakers at dealers, there would often be a chair in the sound room, and one had to be seated precisely to get the full effect.  With the KEF's, it was immediately obvious that the sound was the same across a wide range of listening positions.

I am driving them with the 4BSST2.

I'm running a 2001 vintage 4B-ST with 1995 vintage Kef Q70's.  They're closest relative in the current Kef Line are the IQ90's.

I do love the soundstage and the amazing midrange.  I like the overall balance best.  Try Telarc's Love Theme from Superman off of the "Time Warp" CD and check out the  balance as the pizzicato's  as the strings go from bass/cello's up through the violins.

To help on the low end, I'm running a Velodyne subwoofer for everything below 80 hz.  It lets me tweak the bass to what I like.

The Kef's sounded great with my Japanese Integrated amp.  They sound amazingly better with my pre-amp and the Bryston 4B.

Ok, so the 4B is enough to drive those too...cool.

My Q70 Kefs are rated at 6 ohms and a recommended max wattage of 150W.

My 4B-ST was rated at 288 W/ch at 8 ohms by Bryston.    The LEDs have never been yellow or red, no matter how loud I listen.

My 4B-ST has no problem driving my Kefs.

Ok, thanks. Sounds good.  :D I'd rather not upgrade my amp and preamp to something higher in the Bryston line when I get new speakers and turntable. I don't think I could afford it.

James my cherry 207/2's just arrived.  :)

After owning KEF 105/3's in the nineties and remembering that great midrange detail and all that foot tapping I finally found what I was seeking.

They are very very good with the Bryston kit especially the image which is outstanding.
